Sky Sports agrees new five-year EFL deal

would suit me and would rid us of our (alleged) Tuesday night curse :grinning:

Away hotel bills will be cheaper

If you play a Thursday though, surely that means you are also playing Sunday not Saturday? Bit unfair if the other team has played on Tues/Wed.

Can see this is going to be a mess.

I took it to mean instead of the Saturday, so we’d have our Saturday game brought forward by 2 days

Even as a one off during a season, that sounds terrible.

Agreed

Saturdays game for me is more about the social side pre match, meeting mates and having a few beers and making a day of it.

This is a social leisurely Saturday lost and now a rushed game for me and many others getting there after work.

I’m looking forward to it. As someone who can’t afford a season ticket and with a dad with cancer who’s starting to get weaker and feel the cold being able to watch around half the games from home is a godsend and then we can pick and choose a home/ away game when he feels able to go when it’s not on tv

Yes, I’m sure I read somewhere that the Tuesday night games were remaining and it was some of the Saturdays that would get moved to Thursday night TV games.

Not personally keen on the Tuesday night games, as it’s a ballache travel wise when you don’t live near Walsall. So having even more midweek games is something I’m not looking forward to.

I think there was a prospect of possible time changes on some Saturday/Sunday games too with earlier kickoffs? That would be another thing that would be annoying as Saturdays are a social event for us too.

Ahh that’s makes more sense I guess. So basically they are making it a 4 day footballing weekend on the tv instead…

To be clear the Thursday night games will be games moved from the Saturday. I believe Sky have allocated a couple of slots each week to L2 games on Thursdays and L1 games on Fridays.

Port Vale and Cheltenham away both rearranged for 12:30 kick offs on the same day as the original fixture.

I can imagine the local police must be delighted at that fixture moving!

Apart from the handful from each being played tomorrow night and Sunday, on Saturday all Championship games are kicking off at 12:30pm, L2 at 3pm, and L1 at 5:30pm.

Great for armchair fans, less so for those that go to games.

11th January is potentially 3rd round of the FA cup match

Yes, I thought that was an odd one to choose.
