Scouring the free agent market apparently
Half hundred weight, ay it?
Bit late in the day, facing another two almost certain defeats will mean 4 in a row, the current number of injuries and or suspensions should have sparked an âinstantâ look at free agents on a pay as you play basis to shore up a very weak looking choice we have now.
I hope we are doing this with a lot of Vim and vigour. Surely there must be a few ex-Ajax players we could target? We need to get a move on - we could do with some new players in a Jif-fy!
Firkin âell - I never knew that!
How do you know it didnât. Just because they have said they are looking for the second time doesnât mean they have just started.
Do you really not give any credit and believe they only do anything until have told us a few times lol
You might get the odd bargain in the free agent market but more often once the seasons started youâre on very dangerous grounds and definitely not many quick fix solutions.
-
Theyâre normally free agents for a reason. Injuries / attitude / age being most likely.
-
Some may have been lucky enough to have had a club willing to let them train but itâs highly likely theyâve been training on their own and are way off it fitness wise.
-
Even if they are injury free, of good character, a good age, have been training with clubsâŚ.they wonât have played a game of football for weeksâŚ.possibly even months!
Our choices are limited due to the absence of a loan market outside the primary transfer windows. Our options are essentially down to putting our faith in one of our young prospects or exploring the possibility of signing a free agent. Itâs worth acknowledging that we couldnât have predicted the confluence of events involving Husseyâs departure, four players being out injured, and one receiving a suspension all at once.
Itâs ironic because, at the time we signed David Okagbue, I was among those who didnât believe we needed another centre half, and now it seems weâve fallen short in that department with him on boardâŚ
This is the belt and braces approach you were advocating.
Agreed
Very unlikley to recruit someone able to hit the ground running
Unless we have someone with good links or a scouting system thatâs switched on it doesnât happen
Smith managed to pull off some great signings.
But there isnât anyone with the knowledge or know how of this guy involved with the club at the moment
We end up with knackered cart horses like Matt and Stevens
Two free agents in training apparently.
Youâve got that wrong, itâs two estate agents in training, in prep for selling The Bescot.
Surely Sadler can do that, eh Gensanx?
Thatâs why theyâre in training with us, duh!
Definitely canât see Draper staying for the season now.
Nope, but where we had Draper there can be others if we are smart and have targets now. There are stacks of high potential strikers hungry to break through into Championship sides who would thrive being our only prime goal threat (up front)
Might be worth looking at a loan with option of extending if they do well, for a small fee.
Troy Deeney said he knows alot if players who would rather remain out of the gane than lower themselves to our level
He also said hes better than Harry Kane
At fighting maybe.
If thatâs true⌠and the club receive news Draper would be recalledâŚ
I wouldnât play him. Or, at least, I wouldnât play him and start him every week.
We need players here who are contracted, and beyond January.
