Two years in is long enough to see there. Opperating. philosophy.
It’s clear to see and hear. There intentions.
They don’t plan to generate. There returns from achieving higher level football far from it.
It’s my opinion. And many others will disagree. But as long as relegation never happens. They are more than happy. Taking there returns. On what they have now
The real worry. Comes when. Fans say enough is enough And. The. Income streams they have raised to the. hilt dry up And then the mortgage becomes. Unsustainable And we are then at the mercy of an American. Investment bank
They say what Fans want and are begging to hear. I myself. Am far from Thinking they have the best intentions. For our club. And certainly don’t believe they will take it forward.
I think there’s a bit of a communication vacuum at present which is probably why folk are a bit nervous or pessimistic about the upcoming season. I know I am.
A few good signings and that will all go away.
However… I think that Sadler interview the club did was a great opportunity to focus on the present and the future - and not 40 minutes on the past. This would have plugged the gaps so to speak, and give us something positive to focus on.
What type of football are we looking to play? How busy are you in the transfer market? What are the aims for next season? What have you learnt from their season that you can improve for next? What positions are you looking to strengthen? Etc.
Instead, the only thing we have really been told about next season is that the grass on the pitch is growing.
Once again, communication at the club is really poor.
You dead right mate but I’m still stupid enough to cling to one more desperate hope that in the next 2 weeks we make some quality signings .but I know the reality is I will be coming back and ticking Dhforever post .
Communication is based on that ridiculous communication strategy issued by Boycott whereby updates are only given at fan forums and via quarterly updates.
After the initial excitement of the takeover, "watch out Villa and Wolves etc) I had a hope that we would have a serious tilt at promotion sometime over the following few years.
2 years down the line it seems clear to me that this isn’t going to happen, and we are going to be stuck in League 2 for the foreseeable unless some kind of Sir Ray type miracle happens.
Negative, probably but that’s how I feel about it, I have kind of accepted it now. I love Walsall more than I could say but we really are a boring club to follow.
It’s the Walsall way!! I just hope we have lined up a decent replacement- not Tierney!! Knowles could have filled in the attacking midfield role, but we’ve let him go!
If RoK wasn’t there in the background then I’d possibly be concerned but if we’re changing things because we feel last season wasn’t good enough and we can get better then great, even if it takes a bit of time pre season to get things right. It goes a little against the message of consistency and we were a brilliant team which was reinforced to us weekly if we’re looking like we need a rebuild though. Need a whole new goalkeeping department, RWB and a new strikeforce unless DJ is back in our plans presuming we’re sticking with 3-5-2. If Hutch goes then I’ll start to join the discontented! Hopefully Adebayo is sold asap for almighty fee but I won’t hold my breath
Yes, that Tom Knowles! I said “fill in” not replace. I want to see us sign quality - we haven’t done that much over the last few seasons - the proof of that is that most of the players that leave us go into non-league!
Hopefully Trivela will show some intent on the pitch with some really good positive signings and ease some of this doubt over next season and themselves as a group. The only people that can ease the scepticism is them.
Have been thinking this for a while, they acquired the club two years ago and within a few months bought the ground and in doing so seriously increased the value of the club, initial job was then done.
They have been spouting incremental growth since day one and evolution not revolution…to be fair they have just about delivered on that.
When I look at last season we are miles off competing with Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield and will be the same with Bradford, Doncaster, Chesterfield and MK Dons this coming season.
The benchmark will be the quality and nature of the first 5 signings for me, but fans this year I fear will really start to run out of patience if we fall too far short.
I also believe that the new TV deal will prove ,more challenging to sell season tickets for 2025/26 than most people are realising with fixture changes.
My key point being it is time and quite rightly for the owners to be judged on the footballing side of things…it will for me anyway.
