The Official Summer No Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25

I think it just shows how far behind we have fallen.

Ooooooh arrrrrrrrr :carrot:

For me mate, they’ll only announce it if they’ve got an incoming. They won’t want the heat from selling him for what we think he’s gone for. It really shows where we are as a club right now. Disappointing :disappointed:

I very much doubt Hutchinson would have signed a new deal if the release fee was high. Im sure the club got the best deal they could.

Surley you cant accuse the club at penny pinching and another breath claim they are letting players go for cheap. Thats a big contradiction.

I can’t recall at any point in our recent history - that a player has left due to an extremely low buyout clause.

There better be some players lined up - some serious players.

The problem is, or rather the issue, is the problem with ‘incremental progress’ is that things like this will happen.

If Hutchinson does go, it will be a real blow but I cannot see what the club can do, all the more so if there is a release clause. Even if there is not, he can go for free at the end of the season. This has always been the case for lower division teams and it is part of the way we survive. He has improved by being at Bescot.

I’ll say this though. A lot of folk on UTS were slagging him off for a long time.

Thats because we haven’t had any decent players to put a release fee on :joy:

If it was up to me… if it was sell him for 100k… or keep him a year and try to get promoted….

I know which one I’d be picking.

Whether you like hutch or not. To take that amount of goals and assists out of the team will need some serious replacements. We wait with baited breath. Regarding the buy out clause my feeling is that it was a serious mistake to agree to it. Played into the agents hand. Would we really have been that much worse of hanging on?. Didn’t we have an activation clause when he re signed?

Good players aged 24 and under will always move on if they shine at a particular level.

Hutch has improved in his time here and Walsall have played their part in that.

He came as a 22 yr old freebie who many hadn’t even heard of and he’ll leave a 24 yr old who’s on the list of highest scoring midfield players in our history.

The club can take credit for that not be chastised for it.

He was always going to move on sooner or later, he’s the right age, has a solid pedigree at one of the countries top academies has played league 1 as a teenager. Hes also a player in a position that’s quite a unique commodity in that he scores and creates goals from a variety of sources and a variety of positions.

Whatever fee it is will be argued as not enough but as was pointed out before it was probably set at a realistic figure for where he was when he signed an extension….ultimately it’s all profit so happy days.

Wasn’t a buy out clause, but we sold Bradshaw ridiculously cheap to Barnsley even though he was under contract.

One thing it will do… assuming he goes and that’s confirmed…

Is this will be the moment we see if Trivela are serious about promotion - or not.

Surely we’re not letting him go for that are we?

 Told by two separate people who don’t know each other (I think :joy:) that’s the buyout clause (less than 200k).

Incredible if true. If we were a Peterborough, there’d be a £500k-£750k price tag on his head.

My sauce says that he will go one way and as part of the deal we get a player from the other team plus £150000

It’s all part of the process, the idea was a better football structure behind the scenes. Players will come and go, including popular ones, but we should have contingency planning in place for all eventualities and as such there should be plans in place to replace the Hutch with someone of equal quality and money in the bank.

A lot higher up but looks at the example of Brighton, they have sold several hundred million pounds of players and they still continue to operate comfortably in the PL and bring good players in for a fraction of the price of those who they sell.

That may not be an option contractually. If there is a clause to be met in the players favour then we have no room to manoeuvre.
He would have left for nothing last pre season if we hadn’t signed him to a deal that was beneficial to him at that point.
