May need more than Elvis i reckon…to replace them goals…

But this time last year, could anyone have envisaged Allen and a young 18 year old striker on loan for four a half months scoring 25 between them?

It’s 10 more after 5 years than we usually go for so that’s incremental progress from where I’m sitting.

To add some context, four of those years were at League One level. In terms of minutes, he’s played approx 40 matches at League One level and scored 10. He’s also scored 6 in 6 in the tinpot trophy, so there is some pedigree there.

Even at Barrow last year he only played 90 minutes on four occasions (which hopefully isn’t a fitness thing). Looks like he needs a ‘home’ and run of matches to me.

Perhaps don’t be so critical before they’ve kicked a ball for us, especially purely basing it off numbers on a page :man_shrugging:

The guy is 23 years old and most of his apps up until now have been in the div above off the bench.

While we’re at it,why don’t we sign a goalkeeper who let in 100 goals last season :joy::joy::joy:

You can say what you want, FACT!!! 14 GOALS IN 5 YEARS…our centre half got 11 last season.

Interesting to note that 56 of the 75 goals we scored in the league last season have either vacated, or potentially are vacating in Allen and Matt, the building. That’s a lot to replace.

Pressley would be a quite superb addition to Sadlers forward toolbox. Anyone who saw him in action at Barrow will vouch for what a handful he was that day, he caused our defence untold problems and many sleepless nights. I think that’s our forward line pretty much sorted now assuming Matt signs up.

Matt, Amantchi, Gordon, Pressley…possibly Doug Taylor. Leaves room for one more which I expect we will utilise the loan market for.

He’s a big, strong, physical presence, and would be ideally suited to our agricultural style of football.

For the record I’m not against the signing of Pressley but wasn’t that when we failed to turn up so even the lead striker of the Craggy Island over 80’s walking football team would have played a blinder against us. I’m not sure judging on one game is a useful barometer.

Don’t lump on would be my view with that.

James-Taylor and possibly Matt, won’t be here.

Why would we need Pressley, is that not what we signed Amanchi for.

Looking back a year, before the first game of the season, we looked very short upfront. We only had Matt, not a prolific scorer, coming off a mediocre season, Gordon - 1 goal in 23 games the previous half-season and DJ, who had had fitness issues, plus DJT on loan at Drogheda - not exactly bristling with goals!! I hope we can bring in Pressley and a goalscorer before the season starts- that will be an upgrade on last season (if you disregard having Nathan Lowe for 6 months).

Except that Amantchi can’t head or hold the ball up - otherwise they are exactly the same!
