The Official Summer Transfer Rumour Thread - 2025 edition

Burton signed JJ McKiernan on loan for the season, I reckon he could have done us a job.

I can’t believe that another day slips by without another signing. We’ve only got just over a week before pre-season training starts. I really did think that Albert would have been confirmed today, and what’s happening with Williams, the Farq, Hornby and DJT?

I know it’s early days, but the signings made so far have been good but not ā€œgame changingā€! We still need at least one striker, possibly two; a dominant CDM and cover for Jellis; at least one central defender - probably two if/when Taylor Allen leaves. I hope it changes, but nobody signed so far has made me really sit up and think: Wow - what a great signing- I think Burke is the best so far. Hopefully, things will change this week.

Imagine a lot of deals are done but announcements are staggered in a more deliberate way than they would have been ten or so years ago. Announce a glut of potentially unpopular contract extensions and the mood drops and the club may be conscious that there are plenty who won’t commit to a ST until they’ve seen our transfer business.

If/when Taylor Allen moves on I’d expect the club to announce a few signings around that time.

Absolutely :100: this..expecting things to move quite a bit this week. Like you say it’ll offset the inevitable when we lose tayls

I have noticed that we rarely announce signings on Mondays and Fridays. I think the comms. team must only work 3 days a week !!

Parallels with when we fell short in 15/16. That team was always going to dispand as this one will now, but the inevitable loss of Sawyers/Bradshaw had to be compensated with Oztumer and the spend on Makris.

Absolutely mate. Got the feeling of a bigger reset than they thought. Going to be a very mediocre season. Will the supporter base be satisfied with that?. Not sure they will be

Using this site as a barometer, you’d say some are prepared to move on and others are struggling to recover at this point. Both understandable outlooks.

I’m not there yet, but it’s little things like the Burke signing, new kits and the fixture announcement that pull you back in eventually.

If you’ve 20, 30, 40, 50 plus years of skin in the game, what else are you going to do on a Saturday? They might be a shower of shite next season, but they’re our shower of shite.

One thing we all have in common is that we’re not in it for the glory.

To be fair, Matt wasn’t that great at either, second half of last season.

I agree though, Levi isn’t that player.

Im guessing this is old news, I’ve been away!

Most definitely not are we mate. I’m not the oldest dog in the kennel but I’ve been doing this for 42 years. We’re not glory hunters and that’s a fact ay it!!

It’s a shame but after last season, I cannot get excited about anything Walsall. I don’t think I will be going to any preseason games as last season is still too raw for me. I just don’t trust the club anymore.

How about tshimanga? Free agent scored 10 last year in our league and there’s a player in there . 27 Aswell so in his prime
