The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

Nah, sounds about right, I’ve met Scott Quigleys brother a few times and he was on about that when Stockport signed him in the NL.

Was he? I remember him being as average as they come.

I thought he was decent.

The club are looking at the free agent market to bring in a defender.

Apologies if it has already been posted on here but Hakeeb Adelukan has signed for Salford. It will be interesting to see how he fares because his performances for Doncaster this year certainly caught the eye.

He came on as a sub against MK on Monday, didn’t do much.

That’s the fella.

Good enough to play for Plymouth in League One and in the Championship.

Just from the list you’ve put on that post , in my humble opinion you are doing several really good, honest lower league professionals a massive disservice, by labelling them as " utterly useless" Williams has been over a long period of time a very good and respected forward at our level, Monthe that bad he went to a team in the league above .
Even the biggest critics’ of Kinsella could never question his commitment and ability to " do a job" as shown by always being in the plan’s of every manager he’s played under .
Joe Riley came from Carlisle where he was very highly regarded ex Manchester United so probably not a complete donkey, but unfortunately blighted by injuries. Joe is currently enjoying a good start to the season at Fylde.
I could go on, but hopefully you get my drift nearly all those players you’ve listed would have found a place at virtually every club at our level, and some of them above our level.
To label them as " utterly useless" is quite frankly ridiculous and probably says more about you than them.

Anyone know any decent centre halfs who are without a club could do with one till xmas to cover the injuries at the back

Won’t be Brooking, just signed for Dorking.

You mean his agent has done well for the lad

I don’t know what that has to do with how he performed for us. He was extremely average at best.

Nope, he’s proved he can do well in The Championship over the past few years.

Nope, he was barely average for me , looked the part but didn’t play the part.

I thought Scarr was your bog standard league two defender, good in the air terrible on the ball. Sounded like he played well in a 3 when he went to Plymouth. Proved me wrong and played at a level I didn’t think he was capable of. Adebayo I always thought had something when a lot of people didn’t. Just a game of opinions you win some you lose some

All about opinions, but unusual for a ‘very average player’ to be so successful at a higher level. Perhaps the opinions of those who ridiculed him were based on a misreading of the evidence presented in the games he played for the Saddlers A kind of ‘reverse Stirk’ situation.
