I originally started trying to workout who the new signing was going to be :sweat_smile:

…someone named Castle, Knight, Chester maybe… :thinking:

Then @Saddler1977 said Macron had been linked to the post …soooo obviously 3rd kit revealed :man_gesturing_no:…

So it’s got to be a chequered top as before as @philthesaddler has posted above …but no, absolutely nothing to do with that either :man_facepalming: :joy:

I know a few people that said they’d have bought it if it was white, but when seeing it in person at the kit launch were put off by it being off white/cream.

The two white bishops appear to be on the same colour squares and I don’t know how the knight ended up where it did. No wonder they are looking puzzled.

Yes, the kit design has nothing to do with chess. They’ve just shoehorned that in to the reveal. It’s a little odd.

At least with the home kit, the shots in St. Matthew’s made sense as it was part of the design.

I was a member of the Manor Farm chess team in the 70’s and we played Queen Mary’s Grammer school. They deployed the En passant move. We were totally bewildered …and so was our teacher coach.

I invoked it in a match about 20 years ago and it caused an argument. I was made to feel as though I’d cheated. :astonished_face: I stood my ground though and the match continued against a rather grumpy opponent.

Of course, at the end of the day, we are all just pawns in the game.
