Tranmere Rovers (A) - League 2 - Sat 24th August, 12:30pm

Nice confidence boost going into the weekend…

Two of Everton’s goals were scored by Beto, a 26yo £25m Portuguese striker.

Isn’t it wonderful for the future of English football that a Premier league player who has been transferred for a fee well in excess of the value of any league 2 club can play in the EFL cup.

And that’s one of the reasons I’ll have nothing to do with the Football League Trophy (not the EFL Cup that’s the League Cup) until they revert back to how it was. Which will never happen

They also had a Danish international winger playing, who won the Europa League in 2022 and made 29 appearances for Napoli last season. Farcical.

Momentum is key. If we can have another solid performance at the weekend i will be very happy. people can say we have had two easier games but you can only beat whats in front of you.

Most under 21 teams had at least one player over 21 last night. Man u had a 38 year old goalie playing.

Tranmere had Joe Murphy in goal - I think he’s now 42!

It’s not really about their age, it’s about the calibre of player. A competition designed to give lower league clubs a chance to win a cup competition shouldn’t have the likes of Beto and Lindstrom appearing in it… or indeed any U21 PL teams who stockpile youngsters on inflated wages.

League teams are allowed to play players at any age but premier teams should only play under 21s that’s what the ideas about.

Clearly must start this one, right? JG didn’t train in the open training session and too soon for DJ to start.

Or would we prefer a Matt + Albert duo to start?

It’s surely got to be Cleary if Gordon isn’t 100%.

Just been to get my tickets for Tranmere… They have sold around 320 so far.

If Sadler knew that JG would miss the next 2 or 3 games, he probably pushed to get the Cleary deal completed early.

Think we’ll do well to shift 500 pre sale then, maybe another 100 on top of that on the day. A shame really given the start we’ve had but was always going to be the case with it being on TV and a 12.30KO

Think your right the early kick off has done for me on this one. However I’ve never seen us win there so it might be a good thing :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

Got my 3 yesterday, to pick up at Tranmere on Saturday. Easy for me get the rattler into town then under the water but i get that it is harder for those coming from walsall and other places further away. Shame if we don’t get more than 5-600 after the start we have had but early season, summer hols still, BH weekend etc so maybe shouldn’t expect loads.

Had to adjust my plans when I realised it was an early kick off. Last time for Tranmere I met up with my mate (who lives near Leek) for lunch and a pint and at a nice pub in Frodsham where his route and mine from Huddersfield converge. No beer this time but found a cafe that looks to do a good full English, so that will have to do.

Should be but won’t happen .Sads will be loyal to present squad Come on as sub . Don’t rock the boat

There will be several changes. I assume McEntee is out for a while and Gordon and Allen will be doubts. It could be Okagbue and Weir or Williams coming in along with the new guy up front. It’s a real pity as those three at the back are formidable but what are the odds that they do not play together again this season.

Is mcentee defo out injured don’t think I’ve seen anything official?
