Given what we have seen / read following the last 2 friendlies, what do you think the starting line up will be? Rose or Rushworth? Rollin or Monthe? We’re still a couple of players short - winger and striker - but which of the new lads will make the 11?
Rushworrh
White monthe Taylor ward
Perry labadie
Wilkinson Holden Earing/new signing
Phillips
Atm that would be my starting line up. Let’s see who else comes through the door
Kinsella 100% starts away from home, first game of the season
Rushworth
White
Taylor
Monthe
Ward
Labadie
Perry
Kinsella
Holden
Phillips
Kiernan
A slightly more conservative midfield three, but away from home with a big crowd in it might be wise to try and keep the game quiet and use the likes of Wilkinson, Osadebe etc from the bench.
I don’t think this is a bad shout, I’d deffo swap Perry for Kinsella, the lad was an animal again last night. I also think Keirnan is quickly showing he is a first team winger, I’d swap him in for earing.
Kinsella has to start, MOM for me last night.
Early days but he was a lot more mobile and effective than Ladebe, Kinsella will do well this year.
Given the competition for places, a lot of it will depend on how fit the players are. Given that Wilkinson still hasn’t appeared in any of the friendlies yet, and assuming he’s been signed as the main striker (still not convinced he has yet) then I’d be surprised if Phillips didn’t start up top given his match fitness
Rushworth
White, Monthe, Taylor, Ward
Kinsella, Labadie
Wilkinson, Earing, Holden
Phillips
Another winger and striker are definitely needed before we start the season though
I’m still a little nervous about relying on a left-back who will be a 36-year-old just into the season, with limited backup options (we know Sadler is going to be more a coach than a player).
To hard to tell for me at the moment.
Wilkinson and earring are yet to play and are injured so cannot imagine they will start.
Imo leak and mayonnaise looked better than monthe and Taylor in the villa game if basing on friendlies.
Labadie looked a mile of the pace
Based on current performances It would be a very different team to on paper
With the game two weeks away, surely injuries are not an issue already?
Rose
White Monthe Taylor Ward
Kinsella Ladabie
Wilkinson Holden Keirnan
Phillips
Subs:
Earing, Osadabe, Meyenese, mills, bates, Perry
I know we’re a couple of weeks away, but this is a small squad - yes, a much better squad than last season, but still a small squad. Even with a couple more added, they will struggle with injuries to key players. Sounds negative, maybe, but realistic. 2 wingers, or 2 strikers, and a left back needed as a minimum for me. Hopefully, they can also add a couple of u/23 lads from Spurs, Palace, Villa etc on loan to bolster the
numbers. Expensive, yes, but necessary if they’re serious about a push for promotion!
I know this might be a bit tiresome to some but we are still short up front. We missed out on Harry McKirdy last season and he is available again. He is a decent winger and chips in with some goals. He appears to be on trial at Swindon now and scored twice in a friendly for them. Yes,he may well be a bit of a disruption in the dressing room but it may be that he just needs a bit of strong managing. One that we definitely should consider in my opinion if it isn’t too late.
Striker recruitment has always been our Achilles heel unfortunately, money talks in that area.
Fingers crossed.
We are seriously short upfront at the moment. We can’t rely on Phillips: he’s young and inexperienced. We could do with an experienced striker plus a decent loanee. Whether we get these players will decide whether we get anywhere near the top 7.
Rose
White
Taylor
Monthe
Ward
Ladadie
Kinsella
Osadebe
Holden
Kiernan
Wilkinson
Presuming all will be fit.
If Osadebe is first choice we have a problem.
Oh dear, do you remember the form he was in at the end of last season?
Zak Mills can slot in at left back adequately in my view.
