Trivela Group Takeover

Thought about this most of the day and the only benefit I can see for these investors is to revitalise the club over the medium term and sell it on at a reasonable profit.

The shares themselves aren’t worth much given the debt owed to Pomlett, but as I and many others have said for 20 years or more, the land ownership was key to progress (and all the more reason to deride Bonser, he will have known his stranglehold was the root of our demise).

The land itself isn’t worth much either, so I can imagine the plan is the become a lower league model club, with a view to flogging it in 5-10 years.

The proverb says that ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’ and I am firmly in that camp. I will wait and see what develops, though I’m no fan of throwing money at a problem with no real plan. Too many clubs have tried that in my view. If the owners have a plan, the resources to support it and the personnel to execute it then in ‘may’ work and take us forward. But, it may not…

I don’t know about you but I’m sitting here thinking that tomorrow in the press conference we will still end up being a laughing stock when we all find out they haven’t got 2 halfpenny’s to rub together it’s just years of it happening it’s really hard to get away from.

There are very very few clubs making a profit in the Championship.

Fries, Jalapeno Poppers, Hot Wings. Maybe we’ll have our own branch of Applebee’s inside the stadium…

Having absorbed the news, I don’t think we’ll have a sugar daddy throwing money around. What I would expect includes:

  • Improved match day experience with turnstiles open and sufficient food and drink

  • Influx of foreign players from leagues not as developed as English football

  • Club starts streaming its own matches rather than using iFollow, with advertising from this tailored to Walsall

I’m not sure what the basis is for saying we will get a cash boost at this stage. Fingers crossed though.

Hopefully.

Post-Brexit that’s not possible any more.

Possibly, but the club are contracted to use iFollow at the moment.

I don’t think we should have links to the S*n on here.

As long as we don’t descend into this

Scotland?

I see that Ben (Boycott) and Ken (Polk) are heading it all up, so can we call them BenKen?

Why?

Wouldn’t be the first influx of Scottish players to the club, but the Scottish, Welsh and Irish leagues are now the only places you could get players free of work visa issues, so of limited use.

Just lazy journalism that, making assumptions based on not a lot.

We are the Guinea Pig club. It’s their first venture into the wacky world of footy club owning, so won’t do anything too silly. I’m sure we will have decent money to throw around (at this level) but nothing reckless. They will want to look good, and get some some kudos from any success we have. This would give them something to play on when looking at buying into other clubs.
Or Pommy convinced them that “the Football League is upside down…”
