W 1-0 vs MK Dons (A) – Sat 30th Aug, 3.00pm (League Two)

The facilities are first class, a proper 21st century arena.

Milton Keynes is a brilliantly well-connected city, particularly to London, from which it can be reached via several services and methods of transportation.

Its 30,000 capacity is comfortably the largest in League Two; however, the club rarely sell their full home ticket allocation and despite the best efforts of the home audience, the atmosphere at Stadium MK can sometimes leave a little to be desired.

Where is the away section at Stadium MK?

Away supporters are normally located in the upper tier of the stadium in the North East Corner.

How big is the away allocation at Milton Keynes Dons?

In most cases, around 3,000 away spectators can be accommodated. If demand requires it, the upper tier and lower tier of the North Stand behind the goal can also be allocated for particularly large and impressive travelling gates.

This extremely generous allocation has led to huge away followings at Stadium MK in recent years, which have led to memorable away days. For example, in January 2018, Coventry City had a staggering 8,000 spectators in attendance.

Away entrance

In most cases, away fans will enter through turnstile gates 1, 2, and 3, all of which are located behind the North Stand.

Away fan best views

As outlined, away supporters at Milton Keynes Dons are usually housed in the upper tier, meaning that seats close to the pitch are rarely available for travelling fans.

However, for views, that is a good thing.

The upper tier at Stadium MK provides excellent views of the pitch. For the best views possible, aim to sit in the first few rows of the away section. It is worth getting there early for the very best views and turnstiles generally open 90 minutes prior to the kick off time so spectators are encouraged to make their way to the arena for this time.

Stadium MK was opened in 2007, and in most members of the football families opinion, it is a ‘cut above’ some other new comparable stadiums in terms of quality and standards of spectator facilities. From the outside, it has a modern and attractive look, with good use of silver-coloured cladding and a large amount of glass on view. The most striking feature of the stadium is its roof, which sits high up above the football ground with a large gap between it and the back roof of the seating. This allows more natural light to reach the pitch. The stadium is enclosed and has a bowl-like design which is easy on the eye.

Home Audience

Some of the chants you can expect to hear in the stands at Stadium MK on matchday are:

  • We’re The Dons
  • MK Army (A mighty and feared army)
  • When The Dons Go Marching In

Food and Refreshments

TGI Friday’s is the only establishment in the immediate areas surrounding the arena that sells alcohol; an attractive option that serves a wide selection of American style food too.

You may be better served instead by either heading into the centre of Milton Keynes, where most bars will accept away fans or the nearby Bletchley, which is a 24-minute walk from the stadium.

When in Bletchley, our top two suggestions are:

  • The Red Lion, 11 Lock View Ln, Fenny Stratford, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK1 1BY
A generous sized pub with plenty of amenities including ladies and gentlemans toilets, cash bar facility and family sized tables and chairs.
  • Captain Ridley’s Shooting Party, 183-185 Queensway, Fenny Stratford, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK2 2ED
  • A popular ‘JD Wetherspoons’ outlet with an impressive dining menu and wide selection of soft and alcoholic drinks that is always an away fans favourite.

Away spectators are advised out of respect and for their own safety to keep their colours covered in the immediate vicinity of the arena out of an abundance of caution.

Food and drink is also available inside the arena including miscellaneous pizza (£9), potato crisps (£2.75) and share bags of confectionery (£5.25). Liquid refreshments include bottled water (£3.05), Um Bongo (£1.95) and Tizer (£3.55). A limited selection of alcoholic refreshments are available to well behaved and not previously inebriated spectators. Any food and drink attempted to be smuggled in from outside WILL be confiscated.

Yes with no identifying features, a terrible bar, way too many seats for the amount of people that go, an atmosphere akin to a graveyard and don’t get there too late, because they only open one turnstile, even if the game has already kicked off.

Apart from that, first class.

Pretty sure they have changed the away end to the bottom tier this season, going on highlights I’ve watched of them

Last time I went, the scanner had stopped working and no one could get in for about ten minutes. Still didn’t open another turnstile.

I’d absolutely hate having a ground that much too big.

I have parked previously in the industrial estate opposite the Inn on the Lake pub. Don’t go in for a drink though unless you have a very full wallet.

Is that right @NewportSaddlersDad

That’s an advisory note relating to expectations.

Inn on the Lake generally doesn’t allow away fans in, particularly before the game.
Last game I think it was closed for a wedding all day as well.

We always used to be in the lower blocks up until the last few seasons where they had the idea of putting away fans in the upper to make them further away from the pitch and influence he atmosphere.

It might be that they’ve abandoned this and started putting away fans in the lower blocks again.
