I made one of my very rare posts on here after the Forest Green game complaining how bad everything was especially the match day experience, today was the first game I have been to since then for whatever reason and it’s only fair to compliment the club on the improvements they have made since then the whole experience was 100% better and I really enjoyed the whole day I suppose the performance and result helps but the whole day felt different and much more professional and enjoyable.
I don’t know what was worse though the Forest Green day or the number 5’s performance for Mansfield.
Pretty much so! I’m very pleased that things are starting to really click and particularly delighted that Miller is proving to be an inspired signing.
My comments were more an observation of modern day football fans (not just walsall ones), for whom a defeat or similar sees social media filled with despair and doom and calls to change everything from the manager to the tea lady, and a good win sees the opposite.
I trust Taylor, I trust Fullerton, I trust that Pomlett desperately wants a successful team and whole club. I have confidence in them to produce so I shall give them time, be pleased but not over-exuberant about wins like today but, likewise, not be overly worried by performances like Forest Green. We’ll get there, we’ve got the best chance of that we’ve had for several years now.
He looks like he has big problems, love how Matt Taylor remains upbeat and confident even during our dark times, this can only install belief and confidence in the players, something we are seeing now on the pitch
Echo a lot of the thoughts on here, there were passages of play today I haven’t seen a Walsall team not only try but manage to pull off in a long long time, one touch passing out of defence into a counter springs to mind. A very enjoyable game and thought it was a decent atmosphere. UTS!
3-0 on your big day out 3-0 on your big day out to the Mansfield fans nice touch that was to be fair to them they carried on singing and were throwing what looked like a tiger teddy around in the right hand corner until the stewards confiscated it to rapturous boos from the away end.
I enjoyed them implying our support was poor but were booing their own players 30 minutes in. Imagine being stupid enough to invade the pitch at 3-1 down too. Enjoyable to watch though, made some decent noise.
Speaks so much more professionally and makes so much more sense than a certain someone we had in charge before Dutton which is strange considering Matt’s new to the game but you can see these players respecting him much more than any of the players have for previous managers, this appointment could well be a master stroke time will tell of course and it’s only a small run of good results but maybe just maybe….
I genuinely couldn’t fault any of the players today- a true team performance in every sense.
I noticed a couple of times in the first half there were minor mix ups between Monthe and Taylor. Against FGR they would have openly berated each other, but today I noticed on both occasions Taylor simply went over to Monthe, had a quiet word then shook hands. This typified the calmness shown throughout the entire team.
Well done lads UTS!
Impressive display from the lads, fully deserved win hopefully we can build on this and get a run together.
What’s more impressive we won convincingly without Holden,Wilkinson,Labadie and Rollin.
I’d like to know if those doubting Fullartons recruitment still feel the same after today’s performance.
I’ve been one of the biggest critics of the team this season, better performance players looked fitter and working well together. Better line up for me, only need 1 defensive midfielder. As it showed more intent going forward, and miller was outstanding , 3 others need a mention rushworth fantastic, earing improving and phillips link up play. Down side stewards not giving tiger back to Manfield fans… boooo
I was very concerned about the state of the squad on deadline day - but it’s looming rosey now.
It is a squad game however, and I still think we need one or two faces in the squad if we are being sensible.
Oh and what a surprise - we play a creative player next to a more limited ( ) one, and we have a much better structure…. I’m glad Matt has seen it, and the Labadie sending off was a bit of new Dawn hopefully.
Two Saturdays on the spin and I’ve really enjoyed watching us. This isn’t normal!
Loved the way Phillips, Kiernan and Miller moved, loved the way Earing played as a box to boxer and it was no coincidence we looked far less polished when Shade went off.
But most of all I’ve loved the way Taylor has stripped us right back to basics. That was a formation we’d all recognise from any level of football and you could describe what every single player was meant to do.
We can’t get too carried away. All three goals came from balls over the top which if we’d have conceded in the same way we’d have been spitting. I also think we are conceding over 60% possession every week. Some teams will punish us more than others.
But - lovely jubbly. Mid table and hopefully looking up! Well done the lads.
