For my birthday i received the above titled book written by Simon Turner.
What an absolutely superb book it is with Saddlers legends recalling their memories of key games they participated in.
As a fan i can remember most of the games with dread and prepared myself in my usual way of anguish preparation so as not to be completely devastated when the “inevitable” happened. Of course, the inevitable didnt usually happen which in itself produced such emotional highs.
It really brought back some great memories and is superb in that you have the players versions of those games.
Apologies if there is already a thread for this.
The name of the author is one i recognise from UTS when it first started but i dont think it is the same guy.
There was a brief thread on here a few years back when it was first published…
Great book. My dad had it and lent it to me.
Simon Turner is also the author of the “90 Minutes From Europe” book which was written a bit later. He was posting himself on that thread at the time so may be where you remembered him from.
Both are great for more recent history (certainly within the lifetime of many posters on here). If you are interested in the club’s earlier days, Birth of the Saddlers by Mike Bradbury is also worth reading.
Book was written before that cup was mentioned. I doubt it would add much to the book though I haven’t read his latest book but you have reminded me I need to get it. Simon is a season ticket holder at Walsall and a good writer.
If it was Sheff he would end the book with a cliff-hanger and then promise to reveal all in a new book that will be published at 7.15pm on the next Monday (then fail to provide the reveal).
