This is to do with Shrewsbury Town, and it appears here in “All about Walsall” because of next Saturday’s fixture.
The Sloppies are playing today (Sunday) at Coventry City, and the Sky Blues are leading 1-0 at half-time. What intrigues me, however, is the fact that although Shrewsbury have 40 players in their first team squad they have only named 6 substitutes for today’s game.
I’m obviously not au fait enough with such tactics, but I can’t think of a good reason for doing this!
Injuries apparently. Let’s hope they are still struggling next Saturday!!
Always been one of my gripes Welsh… Surely a youth team player could make the bench 
Usually happens when someone gets injured in the warm up and you only travel with 18.
See Stefan Payne is on the bench, wasn’t he amazing for them last season, went elsewhere and they got him back in January.
I believe it was something around the homegrown players rule and they didn’t have one travel so could only name 6 substitutes.
