Anyone for Strik, the man can not control the ball
I thought Stirk played very well at Newport with Chang alongside him.
He was worse than average I reckon - he was exposed time and again and his distribution very negative with far too many short defensive passes…
I know some folk see only positives with Stirk and he for me is one of the players who seems night and day from the first half of the season to now… what really worries me is his visible lack of confidence on the ball.
Game of opinions I suppose
I do wish he would learn to shoot the ball low. He must have had 30 shots go over the bar this season. The one he hit low flew in the bottom corner. Had a decent chance again Monday and blazed it.
He’s been very poor in the second half of the season. Looks low on confidence, doesn’t want the ball and gets rid of it quickly when he has it. The problem being Sadler seems to think Comley is his replacement and he is far worse.
Lakin could be a good replacement for Stirk, felt on Monday Stirk and Chang were too defensive and similar, we lacked drive from midfielder until Hall came on
Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of what Sadler thinks and does.
Seems like Lakin is the latest to fall out of favour for reasons unknown. I know he hasn’t been great but neither have Jellis or Stirk.
Good call, alternatively McEntee who like Lakin can drive forward carrying the ball.
My team would be:
Simkin
Asiimwe, McEntee, Williams, Allen, Gordon
Hall, Chang, Lakin
Matt, DJ (because this midfield may create chances)
Subs:
Hornby, Okagbue, Stirk, Jellis, Barrett, Adomah, + 1 striker
I know DJ is unlikely, so maybe Levi but more likely Harrison.
Wouldn’t mind trying Jellis alongside Matt.
Give it a rest.
Just can’t wait for it to be over. This game has been in my head rent free all week. Still not over the last minute winner that wasn’t on Monday.
Fwiw I think we will finally win this one. But it will be too little too late.
They don’t kiss, they don’t kiss the way they used to
In my opinion Lakin has been OK all season; nothing special, but unlike Jellis, Barratt, Gordon and Stirk, his form has not deteriorated.
As for Stirk, surely Chang is a perfect one-for-one replacement. He can do everything that Stirk does in the middle of midfield, but a lot better. With Chang in the side we do not need Stirk as well; just as we did not need both Comley and Stirk, or Comley and Kinsella, in the side at the same time.
I’d say that’s because he has been bang average for it all. Not convinced by Lakin, needs to offer more as a midfielder for me, and we will need better should we get promoted.
This really is the last chance saloon , anything but a win and our season will be over.
Yes there’s playoffs but we have zero chance of winning them with our current forward line.
Two wins and we’re up!
we don’t need to play with a back 5 for this. Shame we are too inflexible (poorly coached) to deploy a back 4.
I prefer a back 4 myself but I do not think we should be trying a new system at this point and I doubt he will try.
We just need a positive attitude and a win.
If only Killer had of posted that
I’m sure mcentee would be able to HANDLE that role
Biggest home game in years.
With the three above us playing before us there can’t be any more motivation.
I’m as pissed off as anyone with Sadler - But from 15:00 Saturday I’m fully behind everyone at the club.
With that being said -
0-1 … This team doesn’t handle pressure.
Very excited!
If we have the energy and tempo the atmosphere will be electric and will drive the team forward..
Deluded opinion - This will be one of the most exciting and memorable games and one of the best at Bescot.. Attacking and relentless… Loud and so much collective spirit.
Pessimistic (realistic) opinion - An abject failure, several goals down at half time. Players turning on eachother and maybe even a red card.
8k in attendance!
I agree, although I think we will get a late equaliser to prolong the agony.
