Morning all you sports fans.
I’m organising a charity sports quiz at Pelsall cricket club in aid of The Acorns House children’s charity , as I’m sure you are aware it’s a fantastic charity that looks after terminally ill children and their families, its a local charity and ALL proceeds will go directly to the charity.
It would be great if anyone would like to enter a team)s or even if anyone has anything they could donate to the sports auction that would be brilliant.
If you want more info please let me know.
Thanks All.
Please if anyone can get a team together, get down for a great night and help raise some vital funds for Acorns once again!
@Saddlerone1 I’ll be in touch but I’m sure I can muster a team at least
Thanks Rob , that’s great.
Count me in Rob. I’ll join you
morning gents, is anyone able to give me a helping hand in accurately dating this WFC signed ball , it’s one of the auction items in the upcoming charity sports quiz in aid of the Acorns house children’s charity at Pelsall cricket and sports club on March 7th.

Pretty sure it’s early 00s
Fifth down is Ian Brightwell isn’t it? He played between March (?) 2000 and March 2002.
First is Ian Roper which is no help.
Is Gabor Bukran the third one? I don’t think he played after the play-off final, so that makes it from March 2000 to May 2001.
So possibly round the play-off matches.
I can’t read the other names.
Cheers mate, yes that’s pretty much what I was thinking, thanks
I was thinking Gary Birch?
I’ll get some better pictures on later
Ah, you could be right about it being Gary Birch. Makes my Gaby Bukran theory redundant.
But Birch was here before and after Ian Brightwell, so it must still be within 2000-2002. If it is in fact Brightwells sig.
Footballers have crap writing, mostly. Ian Ropers name is nice and clear though.
Tom Bennett is one (i think).
Roper as has already been said.
Looks like Gary Birch from memory aswell.
Anytime between 1999 and 2002, to fit all 3 in that case.
EDIT: last picture, middle panel is Keates, which doesnt really help
You think that is Tom Bennett rather than Ian Brightwell? You could be right. Doesn’t make a huge difference though, January 2000* to May 2002 (minus Feb 2000 because we mislaid him for a while), so just stretches it a few weeks either side from Brightwell.
I think footballers need less training with the ball, and a lot more on how to write legibly.
*Millennium eve eve if you want to be exact.
Got to be honest mate, first rhing i thought when i saw it was Bennett but could be wrong
I wasnt much more than a whippersnapper in 1999
I’m not sure your age in 1999 is the key point here, I think it’s that footballers are a bit dismal at writing. Apart from Ian Roper. Maybe they should all sign things in Times New Roman, something nice and easy to read. Or maybe I just need new glasses, being as I only got one out of three, which even Meat Loaf would be unhappy with.
@JumboTrudgeon I’m now going to refer to you as the “Sans Serif Sheriff”
