And yet probably our fittest player last season was a 37 year old Albert Adomah
Final Dent.
Welcome, big fella.
He has a lot of tattoos but I can’t read or see Pomlett in any of them
He was our fittest you’re right and he only averaged 30 minutes per game
So what was our least fittest like
I think that’s been a great day’s business. Good luck to Dave, let’s not forget he turned down an offer from Stoke to join Walsall, and irrespective of anyone’s opinion of his ability that decision has ultimately benefitted the club. Flint, just pray he’s fit, because if he is he’s just what we need, a proven winner with leadership and mentoring capability to add to a young defence. Two midfielders to go for me, hopefully one of them being Sawyers.
Christ alive
What a signing. May or may not work out, but that is A LOT more like it.
hasn’t played a game yet. I’ll wait for them to see what they’ve signed first. That keeper that ended up at Barnsley on a 4 year deal vibes.
I’m not sure when Peterborough turned into Man City the way people have gone on about this move
Quite surprised when i read that we had signed flint, but a pleasant surprise. He certainly brings that experienced head to the defence at 36, and with where he has played. I share the worries of 1 or 2 and will wait to see how he plays and fits in.
I recall people being impressed when we signed experienced peter clarke but, after a reasonably decent start for us, it went downhill a bit quickly.
A positive is that i think he’s been training with the club for a few weeks . so had a good look and is 4 years younger than clarke when he signed.
The middle centre half is probably the only player in Sadball that isn’t required to run around like a lunatic for 90 minutes.
If we get 30 plus games from him then it will have been a good deal.
Good points made! Let’s hope it’s a successful move
Just hope his legs havent gone and he doesnt become a liability because we know sadler will stick with him regardless
Fantastic signing, will score from set plays too. Unless Jellis is taking corners, them we need Warwick Davis on the near post or the jolly green giant on the far post
Much needed experience, as between Burke, Browne, Weir and Cox the rest of the back 3 have played 15 league games between them. Also need Priestly fit.
Great signing but I expect he isn’t the player he was when he last played at Walsall with Mansfield .he had a tough time against Matt that day
That said he will be strong in the air and most likely need the pace and legs of Burke, Cox, alongside him as he will exposed to pace. However organisation and communication skills will take us to another level. That’s before developing Burke, Browne and Weir etc
If the Priest can regain a level of fitness rotating the two could give the defence a solid core, put Harry into the mix towards the end of the season too
More positives than negatives for me
Things have changed significantly e_n. The financial gap and crowd potential between the divisions, even that between League 1 and League 2 have increased considerably.
Our average gate is the best its been for 20 years yet would be in the bottom third in the level above. It might have increased a bit if we had gone up, but it also may have reduced if we had struggled. We have a lot of catching up to do and the likes of Posh are streets ahead of us currently. They have not always been, but they are now. They get 9k and invest in 4 year deals which says a lot IMO.
The only way we can reduce that gap is to invest in players and get promoted asap, which makes last season’s total b****up even more frustrating.
I wasn’t talking about the financial aspect, I was talking about people using a League One club taking a punt on a very League Two player as a sign he is better than people give him credit for.
On that note however, we seem to be more intent on selling them off for a couple of quid than building a solid side. Not that I think Okagbue would ever have been a part of that.
I totally agree with that, although frustrating is putting it mildly.
When they came out with “we need 10,000” line, basically saying it is hard to compete at the top of the league, and yet they seem unable to comprehend how damaging last season was. A golden opportunity to get promoted and push on. Then they are inferring with their own words how difficult it will be to go to the next step.
