Very good interview from him there

Fair, honest and accurate I’d say…

Well there is Harrogate, Accy, Newport all at end of season. Lower half teams with little to play for so couldn’t ask for a better run in than that.

Really need to beat Vale though just to give a bit more of a breather to 4th.

That’s the paradox though. People saying not going to win again this season is conceding that there is no tactical plan that Sadler can come up with to defeat these lower end teams. Yet posting to still get behind him and the team.

Vale much is going to be huge so that 90 minutes will say plenty for how the final few games will go.

Was you taking the urinal

I have met Jon on 2-3 occasions. A very impressive football man and person.

If i didn’t know any better i would of said 2 sides trying to avoid relegation, it was dog shite awful to watch and i am sick to death of having dog shite referring, Hall looked good when he came on, Nathan at wing back looked assured like last week, Jellis doesn’t have the same impact as he did earlier whether that’s down to 1st year full time football and where is Chang after his brief appearance last week and with DJ and Jamma upfront there is no pace to trouble a defence so playing DJ was it a told ya so from Sadler now shut up :man_shrugging:

I’m not sure Tuesday is a free hit. Lose and Doncaster are 2 points behind with a game in hand.

As much as I want us to win a game very soon, I’d take a point on Tuesday, and hope we turn up against Vale.

I think there’s lots of factors at play

Fatigue - in Barrett, Jellis, Matt and others

Lack of fresh ideas - of the players we brought in during the window, only Harrison has had regular starts. The others haven’t once challenged for a starting berth. It’s a long season and as well as the fatigue, we’ve had to deal with next to no reinforcements.

Mentality - being top for so long and being so poor, we’ve been looking over our shoulder for nearly 2 months now, that’s not good, we are never going to play well like that

Quality - there’s a definite absence of quality, especially in the final third

Tactics - Sadler is very cautious. In hindsight, knowing we had the run of games against Wimbledon, Donny and Vale, you’d probably be a bit more offensive minded against the likes of Cheltenham, Bromley, Swindon etc, but he wasn’t. We didn’t secure enough points from those games, if we had, todays result would be regarded more positively.

One of Sadlers favourite catch phrases is along the lines of “we go on to the next game bla bla”. For me this portrays a bit of short-sighted-ness. If you only think in terms of the next game, and never in terms of other games you’ve got coming up you can get in to a rut. Granted, sometimes, this ‘fearless’ ‘we move on’ ‘we take on anyone’ approach is good and gets results, but I always remember Richard Money and the 06/07 promotion season - I think he worked in blocks of 5. He set points targets from groups of games.

His approach meant if he knew he would play 4th, 3rd and 5th in the space of a week, but preceding that he played 2 lowly teams, he’d target more points from the lowly teams, because he knew the tough run that was coming. That worked for Money and we consistently picked up points.

I’m just trying to remain optimistic :joy:. I would snap ya hand off for a draw but it’s very simple, win our home games and we’re home and dry and it probably doesn’t get anymore difficult than today.

The first half was rubbish by Walsall but they did improve in the second half. Asiimwe was motm for me and I can’t help but wonder why we haven’t seen more of him.
Hornby did well and deserves to keep his place. Hall looked class too.
I’m not sure if the ref has cataracts but I can’t think of any other reason why he missed what looked a penalty or not seeing jamma and DJ getting dragged around by the number 31 who appeared to have borrowed a pair of knickers from his wife/girlfriend.

Obviously it’s all about opinions and you’re entitled to yours as I am to mine but I wouldn’t call that a dog shit game at all

OK, it wasn’t the result we wanted but it probably was what we deserved over the 90 minutes - they were decent in the first half and us much better and decent in parts in the second half…

Good atmosphere and a reasonably competitive game - not dog shit at all IMO

Asiimwe has really impressed me and has more quality on the ball than Barrett and is strong and energetic . He deserves to keep his place

Hall has real quality . We could do with him on at HT or on 60 mins max .

At the other end of the scale … Matt / Jellis / Lakin look very jaded / out of form

Surely Chang needs to feature in midfield ???

Flabbergasted Assimwe hasn’t featured more. Praying Hall stays fit he’s like a new signing. Sadler may have a team selection headache in the week, he could stick with the 11 but also could make 4/5 changes. Think he’ll go with Adomah upfront ahead of DJ and Barrett back in (harsh on Assimwe)

Agree with all those points mate but would also add that my only criticism of Asiimwe is that he does an awful lot of twisting and turning defenders when in many cases, if he looked up for a split second, a simpler (and timely) cross is possibly on…

That aside, I’ve been very impressed with him :+1:

Been a big fan of Lakin all season but even he looks tired now.

If DJ isn’t that runner, he needs to protect it or link play. Disappointingly, he didn’t do any of that today.
