DJ would not have missed it!

Yeah, saw that and looked on in astonishment to be honest since we’d had the square root of f**k all to cheer about.

Today was an incredible experience for me, never been to a play off final before in my time supporting Walsall as i missed Cardiff by 10 months.

Even when i went to Wembley 10 years ago, went on the supporters coach, was pretty much just a case of getting there, going in and coming straight out again and back home.

Made sure i made more of the day today, was there by 10 and had a few hours taking it all in and the atmosphere was brilliant before the game.

The result hurts, this season has hurt me even more, but it was such a good experience, but i certainly hope we can go one better next season.

So I’ve listened Liam Gordon’s interview within seconds it was posted he mentions other player’s football careers but now I’ve listened to it again they seemed like that have cut it out!?

Great post.I am not going to comment this evening. I am sore because I thought we would lift our game as we did against Chesterfield but the opposite happened . I will post a reflection on the season when I feel calmer and the immediate disappointment has gone. One thing I would suggest to our owners is that they use the monies raised from the play offs to ensure we have at least 2 good quality forwards on extended contracts together with a wise old head in midfield and they make it clear our support will be rewarded.

Just like the first time we went to Wembley - a complete no show.

Don’t really have any energy to analyse it much further than that. Thought Hall tried to get things going offensively, but there was just nothing there.

Big decision with Sadler now. He should go for me - but the club have to decide if keeping Sadler would mean they have more of a chance or retaining a bigger chunk of the squad, or not. Sadler staying may mean the likes of Stirk, Liam Gordon, Dave etc staying or going.

They’re gonna play it safe and keep him in charge, I reckon.

My first play-off final and my second time at Wembley - but not overawed by the experience. Loved seeing a sea of red and the vast amount of Walsall fans in the fanzone and around Wembley mind you, but the stadium and build-up itself felt a bit soulless and corporate. MK Dons esque, ironically.

Maybe he said something that he shouldn’t of! I doubt Gordon will be with us next season

He should’ve gone down, clear shirt tug. At worst a free kick right on the edge of the box that Allen might’ve done something with like in the league game.

One of those occasions where a forward is far too honest and nothing comes of that.

What an embarrassing season

Agree it was so blatant! Needs to be clever there and give the ref a decision to make or appeal at least for VAR.

I love Walsall Football Club, always.
And sometimes - occasionally - I hate them as well.
Have a guess: yes! This is one time I hate them as well. Sort of.
Treated myself to a couple of glasses. Now I’m looking forward to next season

I have to agree. For the supposed climax of English football, it just lacks character.

Perhaps it’s just too big for a Division 4 playoff final. There were 50,000 present today, which still means some 40,000 empty seats. Never going to be a cauldron atmosphere, is it?

A bit like if you run into the back of a car, it is your fault by default, regardless of any circumstances.

Same goes for Sadler, but if you want to add circumstances, even more so.

He must go and take his shite football with him.

This is what winds me up.. why dont we have one of the bigger budgets.. our owners just paid 13million for another club

Was great to see so many Saddlers there today. Felt a lot better than the JPT game, just a shame we didn’t have much to cheer about again.

Can’t be bothered going into depth on the game. The best team won, Sadler has to go now but I don’t think he will due to the cost of his contract.

I said before that I wouldn’t have started Jamma and it was clearly too much for him. Levi looked a bit more lively and gave them something to think about at least.

I’m glad this seasons over now though. It’s took a lot out of me. Time to rest and have a break from football I think!

I’ve been when it’s full watching England and it’s still no better. Really is a shite stadium

We missed Williams throws when he went off because the lad can throw!!

Did anyone else notice there was absolutely no movement or help whenever we had a throw in? Like the players were stuck in their positions

The cheek of him

We should have sacked him after Barrow. It was clear as day, basically punched in the face territory that it was either keep him and end up in the playoffs or replace him and give ourselves a fighting chance. The board chose the easy option of not doing anything and no doubt they will rue bad luck or whatever absolves them from blame. Complete lack of accountability wherever you look at Walsall FC, Mat Sadler is the leading example of that.

Calmed down a bit so a few more thoughts.

Contrary to other posts, I don’t think today was a shambles. If today were an ordinary league game you’d probably just shrug and accept they showed the one moment of quality with Hippolytes goal.

But today wasn’t an ordinary league game. Today was promotion on the line in front of thousands of saddlers who’d paid a lot of money to be there.

Wimbledon played exactly how I and presumably anyone with a passing interest in league 2 football knew they would play.

Although a bit unlucky to fall a goal behind. We were always going to need to score at some point in the afternoon, unless the plan was to play for penalties.

Where were the clever free kick or corner routines that could break their defence?
Where was the plan B to break them down. Perhaps an overload of players one side then a switch if play to the other wing. Perhaps dropping Hall deeper and using his pace to burst through.

What did they do in training all week.

Very very disappointed.
