AFC Wimbledon (N) - League 2 Play-Off Final, Mon 26th May, 3:01 pm

There’s only Taylor Allen and maybe Williams I’m bothered about.

Simkin and Asimwe aren’t ours so we can’t complain there. Won’t shed a tear over any of the others.

They’ve been the worse players in league 2 since January.

Give me strength. Fair to say i don’t consider myself a fair weather fan. Wherever my life has taken me in last 5 decades WFC has always been there and i’ve gone home and away whenever i could despite not having lived in Walsall since i was 18. A few incredible highs, lots of lows but lots and lots of laughs and good people. Sadler clearly doesn’t get it. This is most disillusioned i have felt for the 5 decades i’ve been a Saddler. At this point in time i can’t see me going back, but no doubt i will, it’s what we do, Walsall ay we. Couple of good mates said to me yesterday “ffs we don’t ask for much” and generally we don’t. This season since January has beaten the crap out of me, ruined huge opportunities to capture the next generation of young fans, destroyed the good will and unity that was finally building between club and fans after apathy of late Bonser years and probably done long term damage to attendances. Sadler and the club seem to have no clue about how much this has hurt our long suffering fans. We gave them everything they asked for in terms of turning up in numbers loud n proud. As usual they gave us failure and being let down.

Just go Sadler. If you understood or even had a slither of self awareness you would resign. But you haven’t and you won’t. Sadler out

Delusional, if he thinks blowing a 15 point gap to 4th place with 2 games in hand, moving forward it’s just utter garbage since January and being the worst in the league, how is that moving forward, Delusional

Just awoken in London, had a nightmare of watching Jamille Matt running the front line for us, giving away foul after foul, never winning a header and generally looking every inch of a player spent. Then realised it wasn’t a nightmare!

In the words of Carragher, “leave football before football leaves you”.

Off to spend some time in the big smoke with the family before heading back this evening, see if I can salvage some of this non-event.

The morning after…

The chesterfield result was a blip in an otherwise awful 4 months.

Other teams haven’t been any good….we have been appalling.

This failure to perform for 4 months is on the manager and the owners.

We had enough quality in defence and midfield to do better.

We all knew Mat Saddler wasn’t good enough…but hoped we could scrape over the line.

Without Lowe….Matt, Levi, Flash are junk. And the miss management of DJ is totally unacceptable.

After 30 years of supporting the saddlers….i don’t think I have ever felt so disappointed.

Barring a massive change in the summer…I’m done

One last point, and this is for the club to take on board. They will no doubt have lots of Wembley memorabilia left over, including those extortionately priced pint glasses. For the love of everyone’s sanity please do not think about saving money and putting them behind the bars to use during next season :grimacing::see_no_evil_monkey:

That’s our front pairing next season currently. Progress eh

The Aztecs believed that the extraction of a still-beating human heart was necessary to give the sun enough energy to keep appearing in the sky. For the want of some basic knowledge, humans were routinely sacrificed.

The vacuum of facts surrounding DJ has already invited theories. I’ve heard all sorts of rumours, most of them clearly the product of a wild imagination (and probably a beer or ten), as to why he was frozen-out. Managing facts has its upsides, but this is one of the downsides.

What a weekend - spent a fortune and must have shifted 60 pints. Can’t remember the game or how I got home, although a big bloke with tatoos on his face and bald head was very kind when I passed out.

Thinks its time for Sadler to go, and a reset.

You’ll probably be glad you forgot the match but I would be a bit worried how kind the tattooed bald headed bloke was after you passed out

I love DJ as much as the next person, he’s gave us some great moments in one of my toughest periods following Walsall.

But, in a strange way I’ll be glad he leaves so we can stop the discourse around him not playing. DJ or not this team should’ve gone up at a canter.

The Wimbledon goal was a repeat of a load of goals we have conceded this season.

Defending a corner, everyone gets drawn into the box, they leave 3 players on the edge and have first chance at any ball that comes out. Shooting at that distance through a crowded box, anything can happen.

I’ve mentioned it a few times, why are we not putting a player outside the box. I thought George Hall was going to do it a couple of times but he ended up in the box leaving a big enough gap for them to have time for shot.

I’m sure Walsall pay analysts to look at that sort of thing but I have no idea what they are analysing.

For whatever reason, it seemed a tactic of Wimbledon to shoot from central positions just outside the box. They must have done it 3 or 4 times before they scored (with a central shot outside the box)

Goodness knows what will happen over the coming days or weeks, I’m still trying to make sense of how a season can start so well in fact to the point where we’ve got this it’s our year and then the complete imploding of a team that became a shadow of itself.
Yesterday summed it up perfectly for me, the three previous games Crewe and Chesterfield twice saw us play like the pre Xmas saddlers and on the day when we had the final opportunity to get promoted hoofball was reinstated and I felt embarrassed.
This morning my emotions are all over the place because I feel let down.
Let down by Trivela for allowing this dreadful situation to unfold before my eyes.
Let down by Mat Sadler who in my opinion needs to be removed before he can bore the arse off me with more of the same next season.
I don’t know if anyone reads the ramblings of an old coot like me from Walsall fc but if someone does let me be very clear. I have religiously attended every game home and away for many years following my beloved club in all weather, often freezing my goolies off and all because I absolutely love this club. There are many other supporters like me who put in the effort to back the team, I’m nothing special just a face in that crowd but this season is one that will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons.
If you are serious about growing the fanbase the shambles since January is not the way to go about it.
At one point seven of my grandkids were season ticket holders and all of them have given up and no longer bother. For me personally that’s quite sad, for the club it’s something you need to take on board because they won’t be coming back.
I’ll be there next season watching a new group of players as many of the current squad will move on and many new ones will arrive and I’ll dare to hope once more.
As it stands right now I hope we see a change of manager and direction ie not a fourth consecutive disappointing January transfer window and a new head coach who sounds like one rather than the nonsense we are currently subjected to.

Thought I’d wake up with a clearer head, but I am just more pissed off.

Simkin - Fine, nothing he could do about the goal. Not too fussed about him coming back next season either way though, even though he has been much better past being dropped.

Okagbue - Horrific to downright embrassing. His form catapults from right to left so much that it scares me. Not fussed if he goes, not fussed if he stays.
Williams - Him going off was the loss of our stability. McEntee and Okgabue being together is just pure chaos.
Allen - Tried but couldn’t make much of an impact.

Asiimwe - Was too stuck watching Neufville to make an impact in the game, was fairly anonymous offensively. Would like to see him back next year if we can, and I think it’s definitely possible too.
Gordon - Such a frustrating player. I love him but I also am at my wits end up with him, absolutely zero end product and form wildly shifts back and forth. As someone said above, may as well have been in blue yesterday. Much like Simkin and Dave, not fussed if he goes. We can do a lot better but the fear is with Sadler in charge, we can also do a lot worse!

Chang and Stirk - Seemed to lose the midfield battle. Wimbledon ran over us a little, especially with Smith who seemed to pick up most of the second balls. Would like to keep both of them next season if we can though. Think they were let down by the tactics today. Big pitch with nothing up front so the ball is always dropped back into the midfield.

Jellis - A bit like Gordon, I love a good trier but he has been awful since January. I wouldn’t be worried about losing him in the summer, cause who would want him based on the last 6 months?
Hall - The only bit of quality we had offensively. Touch is too good and has the only bit of explosive pace in the starting 11. Will be in League 1 next year. Just needs to find a bit more quality in the final ball - which would come in a more footballing team and not a Sunday league one like us.

Jamma - Really like the bloke but he is done. Can’t run, can’t jump. Genuinely like playing with ten men. Wimbledon back three may have been smoking cigars on a deckchair with him against them.

Amantchi - Honking, but at least he actually could run and move.

Rest anonymous.

Sadler out, had enough of this brand of football months ago.

It’s as if they know it’s one of our weaknesses. We didn’t learn from those errors all season.

Shooting from a central position outside the box is a tactic now? Isn’t that just what decent footballers do? If you drop limp clearances to players 20 yards from goal they will shoot whether or not it was on the pre match video analysis

Yes, it can be a tactic as opposed to trying to get a shot closer to goal or playing it wide and getting a cross in.

Shooting outside the box has reduced drastically in recent seasons.

Even other teams players joining in.
Shows how rattled they were by us.
