Alvechurch (A) - Friendly - Sat 14th July, 3pm (W 3-0)

I don’t mind the idea of a low scoring forward that makes things happen, but I can’t see Gordon or Matt being prolific, so we can’t afford to carry another one now in my opinion.

Gordon doesn’t win headers and Matt won’t play 46 games.

I 100% agree that we need a fast goal scorer too. :+1:

Big, strong goal-scorers like Draper don’t come along very often though.

Of course they do…MS in that same interview stated that 2 forwards would be signed. We are waiting for the Clubs they are coming from to bolster their attacking options. I wish they were here now but I was comforted to a degree by what MS said.

What? Did you notice that in today’s friendly?
How can anyone be classed as out of form having not played a game 'til today?

Gaffers thoughts on the game.

Sounds like a great day was had by all, a wonderful occasion for Alvechurch and a day I’m sure they will remember for a very long time.

My Leamore Windows Player of the Match would be Adomah.

Prince Albert gave a solid display with some piercing deliveries into the box. He could become an important member of the squad.

I wonder if he’d take the pen’s.

I bet you he has an incisive finish.

He’d also be good alongside ex WBA striker John Thomas, if he were still playing today…

A new ground for me today. I thoroughly enjoyed it too.
A decent workout for the team and a win which is always nice.
We looked ok first half and moved the ball around well enough.
Second half I thought there was far more energy about the team.
It’s early days and almost certainly new faces will arrive before we play Morecambe.

How did Jellis play?

Really good, him and Lakin were everywhere in the second half.

Not got the pace for that anymore given it was 7/8 years ago he played up there.

QPR had him playing more in defence.

I’m not against him on a 12 month deal if he features in more pre season games as far to say he’s in better shape than Lee Tomlin or Guthrie when they turned up.

I presume you can just pay on the day?

Looking forward to next week. Given this is a side with two consecutive promotions it will be a decent test.

Jellis played well, he got stuck in and pressed their defence
There’s room for improvement but to be fair that applies to every player.

The DJ program needs re-programming to get rid of the new virus that is significantly reducing system performance. Perhaps some additional RAM might help!!

I believe so although there was some restrictions I recall on u17s I think paying on the day

how were we ‘without the ball’ in this modern game of concededing possession ?

Gordon’s work rate freed up space for the midfield and created chances for Matt ?

Gordon fit well into the high press ?

observations would be interesting :joy::joy::joy:

Yes to all those in the first half and also an effort for high crosses into the box, presumably to take advantage of Matt’s height.

2nd half, there seemed more of an effort to play through Alvechurch with Jellis noticeably finding space between the lines, also crosses were more fizzed across the box rather than the high crosses in the first half.

Really looking forward to the season after today.

Let’s hope Andy the rest of Bescot warms to Gordon doing the high press, harrying, creating space etc and doing the invisible stuff so well. Somehow I think they don’t understand the game as well as you do and will expect him to stick the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis

Its going to be interesting !!!

If Gordon scores more than 3 goals I’ll be very impressed
