That’s correct - It was 74,600 still the largest we have played infront of, also Villa’s record attendance at the time. Pretty sure I read that this type of thing switching grounds wasn’t uncommon.

Only time we have played them in the league was on these 2 occasions so we’ve never lost to them in the league in our history. Let us crow about that like they keep crowing on about their European Cup win
4 occasions. They did not go up at the first attempt and we drew both matches in their promotion year.

Wonderful! This was towards the end of Taylor’s career with us. That image, I proposed some time ago, could be the model for a statue of him. It’s probably too late since so few supporters saw him play but, once seen, never forgotten.
Willie Penman is the other Saddler in the foreground and, I think, Mick Evans in the back ground.
