Welcome. Seems a very good appointment. Continually made steps up in his career moving on from Harrogate to Morecambe, now Morecambe to us. Hopefully he comes with some fresh new ideas, at a club which on paper, seems to promise a lot. Especially when leaving Morecambe who seem in disarray at the moment.
Another Sadler on board for the Saddlers. Just thinking, how many players and staff have we had previously who’s name has links to us?
Their fans seem genuinely gutted hes gone based on the 10 posts on their forum. Which is rare you normally get at least a couple which would say something degrading even if not true
This gives more of an indication of what he achieved at Morecambe:
Morecambe Football Club CEO, Ben Sadler, will be leaving his position during the close season to take up a new role as CEO of Walsall FC.
Ben joined the Shrimps as General Manager almost 3 years ago before becoming the Club’s CEO in June 2022, and he has served the Club with distinction since day one; leading by example with integrity, diligence and initiative. Working closely with the rest of the Board of Directors, Ben has played a leading role in developing the Club’s brand and vision, improving both football and non-football operations, and bringing the leadership team together. In addition, he was a driving force behind integrating Morecambe FC Women into the Club, and he has made a huge positive difference to the effectiveness of MFC Community Sports, both as a Trustee and in his capacity as CEO.
More specifically the Club’s achievements during Ben’s tenure have included:
Preparing the Club for and managing its operations through two seasons in League One, the highest level the Club has ever competed at with accompanying record attendance levels.
The integration of all departments across the Club into one aligned team.
Dramatically increased Club turnover through improvement to non-football revenue.
Launch of the Former Players Association, extending the ‘MFC Family’ further.
Regaining the EFL Family Excellence award, rising from 63rd in the EFL to 27th
Improvement of communications with supporters and development of the relationship between the Club, Shrimps Trust and Community Sports.
A number of self-funded infrastructure improvements on both the supporter facing and operational fronts.
Development of a training pitch and facility at Lancaster & Morecambe College.
The progression of numerous Club employees, to both their personal benefit and the good of Morecambe FC.
Morecambe FC Director, James Wakefield said: “Ben has been a model professional and a huge asset to the Football Club over the last 3 years, applying structure, hard work, efficient process and real care to every challenge and each incremental gain that it’s been possible to make. We are hugely disappointed to be losing him, but he is going to a well-run and stable Club with a proud history and, like everyone who does a great job here at Morecambe, we wish him the absolute best.”
The best CEO we have ever had who has overseen a doubling of the clubs income , record season ticket sales , fan engagement instead of treating us like mushrooms (kept in the dark and shat on) as previously happened.
A sickening day for the club.
Hopefully fan engagement can continue to get better as there is still lots to be improved.
I’m conscious that I come across as moaning on here sometimes, but this is a great example of what some of the more ‘negative’ posters are talking about.
I was anti Gamble and Mole as their records are absolutely terrible.
We’ve replaced both now with people who are on paper far superior.
If the CEO role at a championship club came up and Gamble and Sadler both applied, there is absolutely no way Gamble would get it.
We’re making massive progress and it’s happening because Trivela are striving for better. When a fan also wants to strive for better it can be seen as negative, but it’s actually a positive thing that I want. Improvements in the club.
It obviously depends how you do it, but a view that everything isn’t perfect isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Nothing is ever perfect! There is always a better way to do things and we are at least trying to do that.Lets hope it brings us some real success. I think it might!
We didn’t replace gamble so to speak due to his performance
His got a job as head of finance at an international firm so it’s probably a promotion he had , Atleast it’s in his field . Gamble is a brilliant financier
