Birmingham City (H) - Friendly - Sat 27th July, 1pm

I haven’t really tried thinking of recent ones, but it does occur to me that Dan Scarr is absent from the list. And who was that player we signed on loan from Blues and never played? It was the spectatorless season, was his name Adnan George or similar?

I have thought of a less recent one, George Johnston, who came on loan from Blues in 70-71. He’d been an Arsenal player and I had his sticker in my Soccer Stars book, he might be the first from that book that I remember playing for us. :grinning:

John Gayle. Only played a handful of games for us if I remember right, but got the winner at Shrewsbury.

Great preview by the way, brilliant work.

Well done on all the played for both sides.

Dave Barnett and Mark Prudhoe are two more I can think of.

Given we got relegated to the 4th Division the season he played a handful of games for us… then returned 27 years later and we were relegated again to that level with him as manager, I’m not surprised. :joy:

And I agree with others - great preview.

Neil Freeman.

Wot, no Garry Pendrey? Tut tut.

He’s there, slightly misspelt.

First name on the list!

I did try a search for it, but the spelling did for me. And ‘Gary’ just got me Rowett and Childs. Curse you, Control F.

Love stuff like this. So now I’ve remembered Tony Godden, I’m gonna go for a best team in a 442.

Rogers (RB)
Dann (CB)
Brazier (CB)
O’Connor (CM)

Wouldn’t last. Mackay would bring three of his past-it muckers in. I’d go for Buckley PM , Pendrey assistant. Didn’t go too badly last time.

By my reckoning, Buckley brought seven of those players in, including Pendrey.

I’d like to see wragg of one of the other youth strikers start over Matt or Gordon as they have both been utter useless sin preseason so far and haven’t earned a starting place
Let’s see what else we have on offer

The midfield options are sublime. Samways, O’Connor, Childs, Handysides.

I’d put Hawker down as a midfield option too. He was so important in Coakley’s promotion season
