Bradford City (A) Jan 25th, 12.30pm

They blow hot and cold. There were plenty of " this time it’s different " articles on Width of a Post when they had a winning run Oct, Nov. Soon back to the “how long can Alexander last?” stuff.

Bradford were really good today I thought.

We were simply out fought and out battled by the better team.

I can’t understand Sadler sometimes though. The game was crying out for Josh Gordon - it needed someone to press and battle for every ball. I’m a big DJ fan - but today was not the game to bring him on. Part of me thinks something has happened behind closed doors with Sadler and DJ. There’s likely some talk about a loan move for DJ - and DJ’s probably said to Sadler you’ve never given me a chance inspite of the work I’ve put in - and Sadler probably promised to bring him on if there was an injury to Jamma or Albert? Something like that anyway.

Poor poor pen from DJ - and that was about the only thing he did. Time to move on. He doesn’t fit the system - and he’s not the player he was a couple of years ago. Pains me to say that, as I have a big soft spot for him.

He wasn’t played in once… Liam Gordon had two clear passing chances to play him in and didn’t see it and overall I don’t think he has had a chance.

However it’s easy to look good on loan, how often have we had player sign after good loan spells and fail to perform once signed.

Well XG is 0.89 v 1.33, so I do think the main difference was they took their chances well.

A few sub par individual displays from us too I will concede.

Too many off performances today and a Bradford team that was right up for it, as you would expect.

Our midfield options are non existent, really need a body or two in that area, and not just to make the numbers up.

Last time we played that bad we lost 6-2 and we didn’t lose again for 4 months. Time to bounce back.

I’m not gonna spend the day dwelling on it. We’ve been spoiled this season, even in promotion seasons you have bad days, often bad runs, we’ll be fine.

What… How many games have we lost in the league since Fleetwood?

Liam Gordon had a shocker today.

Would you have predicted that XG based on what you saw? I can’t remember a clear save from their keeper, or at least a decent spell around their box after the first 10 mins.

you get 0.99 xG when you win a penalty though :joy:

Draw a line under it as a bad day at the office and move on.

9 wins in a row and a loss at a place we always lose at anyway. Take that all day.

Think that might be the end of the line for DJ though. Always knew he was missing that from the minute he got handed the ball.

Which is why xg is bollocks without any context.

As Latvian pointed out, our was mainly for the penalty, nothing more. Today was abysmal, but all teams have off days.

It’s not though is it. It tells us Bradford took their chances well. More they had an ‘on’ day than us had an off day.

Although I do concede there were lots of below par performances given our recent high standards.

The XG for our penalty is 0.8 I believe.

All our xg was the penalty lol
You don’t have to be overly positive all the time it just feels fake
Just admit we were tosh and move on

The last time I looked during the match, our xG was at 0.15 ,so a lot of that must have come after their third , when it was all over. How many xG is a penalty worth?

First loss in the league in nearly four months.

Just a minor slip up today, nothing to worry about.

7/8 wins to go.

I’ve given reasons for my views and you’ve just given abuse.

Fair enough. They just looked up for it today. Can’t say I’ve followed their progress too closely.
