So it’s ok to point out Comleys weaknesses but not Stirks? I’m not saying Stirks isn’t a decent player, just pointing out that his passing was all over the place on Saturday.
And I was just giving a reason why sometimes trying to play at a higher tempo with a few more risky passes will result in this happening sometimes. There were some poor passes from him in the first half, I thought he was much better in the second half.
It’s one of those isn’t it, put up with him spraying the ball all over the place in the hope that a couple will produce something, or pass it back or sideways for a defender to lump it up to produce nothing?
We definitely need to stop this thing where defenders get caught with the ball. Barrett and Allen were guilty of that, and Allen’s mistake cost us a goal.
Very interesting.
Suppose because they have half a big stadium and a decent following they seem bigger than they are.
Between 1961 and 1982 ,they had four seasons outside the bottom tier. Historically, for me ,they’re fourth division.
Very telling. More than 1 occasion Sadler mentions his change in attitude and mentality - definitely was a fallout, or at least him and Sadler didn’t see eye to eye last season, and DJ was disgruntled.
Great to see it’s mended now though, really hope Sadler fulfills his end of the bargain and gives him minutes, he’s such a natural finisher and we’ve not had a connection with a player like we do with him for a long time.
Great post.
My first season as a fan Bradford finished rock bottom of the third division.
They had their couple of seasons in the Prem but then were relegated back to the third tier in 03-04, a long way behind us. We could have done with a win at VP though, although the draw seemed decent at the time (October or November iirc). Oh well.
Agreed, he’s a master at the shithousery aswell. Knows how to draw thw foul and then make the most of it. Not just take an embarrassing dive like Knowles.
Fixed it for you mate.
A few years ago ,Mike Bearley was on the radio. He said something interesting. " It took me a long while to realise that when I asked a bowler to do something and he responded with scorn, it was because he thought he couldn’t do what I was asking him to."
He realised then his job was to persuade the bowler that he was capable of doing what he asked. Something similar might have been going on here. Sadler thought Johnson could add a dimension to his game that would fit in with the demands of the playing style, but ,until now ,Johnson was convinced he couldn’t.
They’re attendance wankers similar to Swindon.
Were briefly in the Premier League over 20 years ago and have a big stadium so think they’re Billy big bollocks.
They may have the biggest average attendance in this division (17K last season) but they’ve struggled to get out of it like most other teams down here.
Reckon £249 season tickets help that attendance figure no end tbf.
I’d forgotten that they reached the League Cup final in 2013, while still in the 4th tier.
Interesting link on attendances by season.
Bit of a jump around 2014 from crowds of 8k to 10k, going up to 17k ish. I remember they introduced a £99 season ticket and held that price for a few years, which drew in a lot more folk. I don’t know what their ST prices are now but they have maintained a very high average home gate for many years now, in what is quite a poor city.
I’m glad we didn’t lose to these Saturday would have been some less than complementary comments on here I’d imagine .
