Well done Andy Cook. He is now even higher in my estimation than he was before.
I wish more players would turn round to give it back to the lowlife scum who think that they can give players dog’s abuse and then get all offended if any of them react. How very dare he?
Dirty Barry told me this rumour also. I think we get fined by Stoke for each game he doesn’t play so it’s in our interests to play him (and to be fair the lad is absolutely top class so no grumbles from me about the arrangement).
This is exactly what I mean by fans wanting it both ways though. I’ve seen you complain because people have booed a team that are getting battered at home, or producing absolute middle of the table dross year after year because it’s not true support. If you have that view, fine. I disagree but whatever.
But then you can’t then justify fan behaviour as ok in another scenario because we we’re on the way to being relegated and it relates to a player that is no longer playing for us. Surely its either all ok or all not, otherwise you are picking and choosing when to apply your own morals.
I’m absolutely fine with paying fans, that give more than enough to this club year after year, voicing their opinion, booing, cheering, whatever. I’m also absolutely fine with those players giving a bit back after being called every name under the sun both on social media and in person. If you can dish it out you can take it.
The only time i recall complaining about booing was at the start of last season where players were being booed onto the pitch because they were being substituted on instead of Danny Johnson, which i and many others didn’t think was right.
Which never happened. Nobody was booing those players specifically. But it’s an old convo, and whatever the scenario it doesn’t change my point. Surely either you are ok with fans voicing their displeasure or not. In my opinion, what Cook faced was far more vociferous and threatening, than a few grumbles at the manager because the fans didn’t like his subs.
If you want to pretend that’s what people were booing, rather than the managers decision (which can’t have been at the start of the season then, if it was Faal) that is up to you. Like I said, i’ts irrelevant to the point anyway.
Grumbling at the manager for a sub = bad
screaming fat c**t in somebodies face = fine
Correct (and we do know he was fit, he said so himself), and therefore aimed at the manager, not those players And as I said, still doesn’t change the point. I get it, fans like to have it both ways
No need to wind Cookie Monster up for him to score our defence usually obliges his goal tally, like last season when Daniel’s preferred marking the penalty spot and leaving Foulkes to take care of Cook at the far post, bloody amateur.
Feels like an early “big game” feeling about this one, i reckon both them and us will be looking to keep it tight. nil nil anyone? Not expecting a classic here anyway.
oh and can we not add fuel to Andy Cooks shithousing fire
A confident 3-0 rebound against an over hyped Bradford City (I’m told Park Avenue are by the far the better of the two Bradford teams by anyone truly in the know).
Simkin back in goal adding that wall of confidence not that Hornby let anyone down just feel in Simkin we’ve got a class goalie in the making.
Goals from the ever consistent Allen, Lowe and the Jellinator.
We’ve got this. Alarm to be set for 1.45am NZST (only 3 more Saturdays till the clocks bounce forward) to give plenty of time to struggle with Saddlers+ and get the night time refreshments ready. Looking forward to this one.
We could really do with winning this one to ‘Stop the rot’ and keep ‘The feel good factor’ going. With the firepower available to us now I can see us winning this 2-1, likely with Cookie getting the goal for the Bantams. For me though the main goal will be for us to sustain no more injuries.
There are positives and negatives to whichever keeper we start. This is the first of a run of at least 7 games running back to back Sats and Tues so I dare say both will be used to balance their workloads, especially Simkin who will also be going with the England U19’s, and I dare say will be desperate to start against the Foxes in the cup a week Tuesday.
I expect to see Hall and Cleary to be making substitute appearances to build them up a bit more, and personally I wouldn’t give Earing a full game if I can help it due to his injury proneness, at least not yet. We’ve got enough strength in depth for the two 8’s not to risk him unnecessarily. Maybe he and Hall can share a spot for a while to prevent injury to either of them?
I would likely start with Lowe and Matt up front, and sub Matt off for Cleary in the 2nd half.
Not expecting much today with half the starting defense missing again, especially coming up against Cook who scores against us at the best of times. I’d take a draw.
Hope Williams can play Cook as he did on his debut for us where he had him in his pocket at Bradford.
Hoping to see us bounce back after that poor first half performance at MK Dongs and play our usual game instead of sitting back and letting the opposition pass it around and building their confidence.
