The best 0-0 ever! Just wondering though, why did we play this on the Thursday and everyone else finished the season 2 days later? We’d already played Scarborough on the Tuesday before. Was there a reason? I was there so must have known at the time, but can’t remember!
I think the police requested it to be moved, I think there were some other big games in the area on the Saturday.
Don’t quote me on that though, it has been a long time ago!

The Bury match was a rearranged game because of an earlier postponement due to international call-ups (Kev Wilson and Trevor Wood) and then the Scarborough game was brought forward because the police didn’t want Walsall fans in the town on a Bank Holibobs weekend. So we finished our season before everyone else (apart from Scarborough of course).
I think that’s right, long time ago though.

Bury was a rearranged game from a few weeks earlier. Scarborough was supposed to be our last game on the Saturday (the same as everyone else), but we were forced to move it as, following trouble with Leeds fans away at Bournmouth, there was a general police directive of no games at seaside towns on bank holiday weekends.
