On a more positive note than most of the posts tonight I think we are heading towards another winning run. The letters have started to fall off the badge on Sadlers new gilet. Our form disintegrated when he discared the old one. This could be the sign.
Hmm seen plenty of good players not “hit the target” by much further than that from much closer. I never suggested it was on target, but describing something that was about 3 inches away from being a screamer as “shit” is still harsh in my opinion.
He literally put a foot wrong for their goal tonight
I’ll give you some clues:
He’s poor to average on the ball, makes some extremely boneheaded challenges and decisions at times and is nowhere near good enough defensively or in the air to play as your central defender in a three, a position where we have dropped a player who for my money was player of the season so far.
Just got back, so surprised to see so many comments about how positive a performance it was.
Very very lucky not to lose that game, felt like a Dutton match.
Communication within the squad is piss poor, Barrett looked devoid of all confidence, or exhausted, or couldn’t be arsed when going forward… Defensively he seemed ok, especially against that ex rangers lad who came on.
I don’t know what will pick up the morale of these players, they seem resigned to defeat spare a few 15 minute spells at times through the game.
At 60 mins Mark Hughes saw we were in a dominant phase of play, he made two subs and curtailed that dominance and killed our momentum… It was bloody criminal that we didn’t go for it with 3 energetic players and throw ourselves into attack! Matt, Barrett, should have come off and possibly Jellis who seemed to give up tracking back in midfield a few times…
We really miss Earing / Hall / Williams / Daniels and although he is there, he might as well not be… we miss DJ and continue to fail to build his match sharpness.
Oh and Ellis Harrison would have scored today! Shame he is ill.
If you hadn’t seen the game this press conference would seem ideal, a decent draw against a solid team…
I saw a group of players devoid of ideas throughout the game and emotionally and physically lost, dead on their arse after the final whistle. Those players were very appreciative of us fans when they came over to clap us and be clapped, it seemed to lift them a little… However throughout the game it felt so desperate and frantic. It was a really worrying performance in my opinion, Cheltenham was much better.
On reflection it’s an excellent interview, it will hopefully inject some positivity into the team and take some pressure off the players.
So many people have made up their mind about Sadler, our next home game will have such an awful atmosphere… It will be back to the dark days of 2023, booing and fan - player divides. It’s sad to see the promise of promotion slip away like this. Our manager, so despised by a large section of our supporters has never been able to win some people over. And yet I do get the sense he and all of those players are trying their best… We simply have punched way above our weight for too long this season and our momentum has brought us here, probably not enough knob heads in the squad.
If we rotate the squad, bring back players like Williams, make early changes of key players, bring on players like DJ earlier - If we as supporters could sing louder and not just rely on block 4 and show even more motivation… We could turn the tide on this bad run…
None of those things will happen this Saturday, and it’s going to be very frustrating, and frankly sad to witness it…
I guess it’s nice the season isn’t over already though.
What’s up skip ? That healthy lead continues to dwindle but those who love incremental improvement and finishing 13th will remain over joyed that there expectations are exceeded even if we fail to be promoted because we finished higher than last season and don’t have to queue as long for a beer now.
Good time to have the momentum
Crap result. Could of won with all the chances second half, but could just as easily have lost. A couple of decent spells apart we looked pretty devoid of ideas and energy. The inability or unwillingness to change it in response to how the game is actually going rather than accirding to the same predictable pre-ordained plan is a glaring problem. The refusal to give DJ more than a couple of minutes is quite frankly baffling. Jamma was nackered and didnt play well anyway, others were nackered and lacking confidence and have been for weeks.
Great to get a lift with @AndyWTaylor (the heated seats were most welcome after) great to see @geordiesaddler and his lass and hear about their plug problems (who says romance is dead) and great to see all the usual faces, great pulled pork cob before but coming out of ground swearing under my breath and shaking my head is becoming all too familiar.
Sadler has a huge blind spot here. I’ll never understand it. Personally Id start with him and take him off rather than the other war around, but Sadler won’t ever do that.
Send him on for the last 20 minutes at least, absolute no brainer.
That list of players missing and we’ve literally not replaced a single one of them… oh and that’s without mentioning Lowe.
The club need shooting for this.
Well as I predicted Sadler is getting absolutely slated online said he would if we didn’t win and I’ve got no sympathy for him now he’s not helping with his selections and tactics.
Whilst true.
I think our upturn happening up to and during during a congested Xmas period accelerated our points accumulation. This may be what gets us over the line but I can’t see us getting past 80 points right now. So very close.
Must comment on McEntee , he’s made us weaker. He’s so reckless, and has literally zero composure creating havoc at times.
It’s almost like Sadler is just sleep walking into disaster, it’s the business end of the season and you play your best 11.
Everyone could see this coming in January, how did we not react to it?
After watching the game I thought our application was very good they went all out for the win had some bad luck in front of goal but the way Sadler is treating DJ in my opinion is offensive it’s making him look a right 3 card trick what does he expect him to do in 2 minutes play him from the start against Grimsby and hopefully bring us back on track
Sadler did, by bringing in several strange signings, his dealings in the transfer market are hit and miss, to say the least
The morning after the night before … another massive missed opportunity! You would have never bet on the other results we saw last night so maybe, just maybe others are feeling the pressure too (apart from Bradford that is). The real concern is as mentioned by many, the baffling Sadler in game changes (or total lack of). I cannot wait for Saturday to give my personal best to lift the lads but in this current run of form I feel many of us will need something from the team first to “get us going 100%”. Last Saturday seemed a pretty flat atmosphere for the first time all season so not only do a few players need a rest and a morale boost so do I… 3 points against another team in a very rich vein of form (4 wins and 2 draws in their last 6 matches) could be that boost for both players and supporters alike. One or both of County and Wimbledon WILL drop points on Saturday so we can really make some ground on a couple of the challengers. Without a win on Saturday, Bradford probably take top spot and that may signal another dent in the belief after so long at the summit. Every game in the last 3 or 4 and the next 3 or 4 is massive, so my nerves are in tatters. A supporter on the terraces of Fellows park since 1977 means more pain than pleasure so with some success seemingly still in our own hands for the first time in what seems like a very long time makes it even harder to see the on going “wobble”. My heart still believes, my head still sees us in a very good position so we go on to Saturday with hope… come on you Saddlers make us all so very proud again.
I have kittens whenever hes near the ball. Defensively either heading or clearing the ball can go anywhere. Strangely further up the pitch his passing improves. . Not sure why Mcentee doesnt go there even though this season its chalk and cheese from the last season
I hope for his sake that was budget and not his judgment.
The most criminal thing from yesterday was leaving Jamma on for 90 mins. Take away from the fact it wasn’t his best or most influential performance, but he has completed a full 90 mins just five times this season, including yesterday. We have won just one of them. He becomes a passenger the further we go past 70 mins effectively playing with 10 men.
That isn’t his fault, he is 35, but what has yesterday done to his potential impact and performance for Saturday, because let’s be honest, he is integral to how we currently play.
I didn’t think the DJ debacle could get any more bizarre until yesterday. I know some believe Sadler fell “lucky” with injuries that made him select certain players, stumbling on a successful plan, I’m not sure I 100% buy that. I can however fully appreciate why some might think that based on recent team selections.
It’s all beginning to feel a bit meh, ironically at a time when the early bird is on
