Charlton Athletic (H) F A Cup 2nd round, Nov 30th 3pm

I have a feeling that this might be one League 1 team too far. We have done very well in the cups but the bubble has to burst some time. But, if Charlton play a lot of reserves, we do stand a chance/

Don’t know why but there doesn’t seem to be as much vibe around this as there was around the Bolton game.

Tickets selling slower too.

Looks like a 5,700 rather than 6,700.

Hopefully a last 24 hours spurt will get us over 6.

Busy time of year, and bitter cold, with no season ticket holders automatically counted in (not that there were for Bolton game, just talking more generally why it might not be a bumper crowd) I would say.

I must admit, when I was a season ticket holder, I used to swerve a lot of the cup games. With going home and a fair amount away, it didn’t hurt to give up a few Saturdays.

Now I’m on the other side of the fence I’ve probably attended more cup games in person at home than I have league games. Funny old world.

Still a respectable gate, usually we’d get 2700.

As ties go, it’s very Meh.

Fair play to anyone that shows up.

Lower tiers pretty much sold out (come tomoz probs will be with walk ups) and the middle, lots of space in upper as usual

Oap stand pretty much full too bar the end block near away end

Should be a good gate and let’s get right behind em

Like all the other cup games this season, it’s a free hit.

Win, fantastic.

Lose, nothing to worry about.

This is all about momentum and confidence. Tuesday was something of “an off day” for many individuals but they all pulled together to dig deep and “win” a point which was just brilliant to see. Saturday for me is a good opportunity to ensure a few “on the fringes” to get some minutes but we don’t want to disrupt the “first choice 11” too much as we need to kick on with another top level performance. If we can be at our best or near to it I think we can give this a really good go and get into the hat for round 3 which would be massive for the club and supporters alike. Would like to see Williams back in, Coms starts to give Stirk a breather and Lakin and Jellis from the start. I would like to see DJ up top with Lowry, taking the opportunity to give Jamma a rest too.

Hopefully another classic cup win and the match sticks in the memory for years to come!!

The family stand isn’t open to home fans for this one (why if we aren’t giving all of it to Charlton?) so I presume the higher occupancy in other sections is down to displaced families rather than an increase in interest.

Yeah - been a bit odd that for two cup games with possibly larger than average crowds we’ve closed the Family stand.

I get that now we have to have an “away corner” rather than an “away end” due to the guidance on disabled fans that the far end of the family stand has to be given to away fans. But neither Bolton or Charlton were going to demand over 2,000 tickets.

Must just be a cost thing. Means the two sides that are open are fuller and a bit buzzier.

It’s so simples

Wear a pink carnation in your left lapel, carrying a copy of The Times under your left armpit whilst sheltering under an oversized crocodile skin umbrella from Italian company Billionaire Couture, held in your right hand

Should do the trick

Never looks good on the camera’s seeing a stand over three quarters empty

I think we will make a fair few changes as the fatigue was obvious on Tuesday, but i still think we will be giving them a game. 1-1 then whoever wins on pens is my prediction.

He will probably keep the cup formation and rest Matt and play Adomah off Lowe but i wanna see DJ and Cleary get some more game time in this one.

I think we will see changes as we have 2 very tough games v Notts and Port Vale coming up.

The game is live on ESPN+ in the States.
Although I’m Jamaica so I’ll find a road side spot for a late breakfast.

Just looking forward to having a few beers before the game on a Saturday again.Feels like it’s been forever.

It would be great if we could win tomorrow giving us the opportunity to get a money spinner when the big boys enter the competition however, the reality is we have no chance of winning the fa cup but promotion is a very real possibility.
