Cheltenham Town (A) Feb 25th, 7.45pm kick-off

Last Friday I’d have gladly taken four points from two away games as it would keep us on course to get out of this bloody horrible league but last night really was points dropped against a side I thought we outplayed for most of the match.
I know it’s not over until the final whistle but we ought to have seen it out leading two nil.
It’s a lesson that needs to be learned for Saturdays encounter because Swindon are starting to find a bit of form.
Our support throughout and especially at the final whistle was unbelievable.
I know referees get some stick but that excuse for one last night was a joke. Their 25 pulled Jamma all over the place and was allowed to do it throughout the game. I thought that the decisions will probably even out over the course of ninety minutes but they didn’t he gave everything against us (at least that’s what it felt like).
I certainly hope we don’t get him again or the god awful linesman.

It was brilliant. Everyone was so gutted - but it was a great reaction to what happened. One thing that doesnt get mentioned too much is that our team is really young. Last night is one of those lessons of youth.

We played against 12 men yet again. Why don’t we get officials that understand the game and realise they are favouring one team?
I thought we played some decent football on some grass at last.
One criticism is the lack of nous in the last 15 minutes not to bring on fresh legs that might just have made the difference. That’s what subs are there for!
I notice that MS praised the fans especially for our reaction at the final whistle by saying he will remember that moment for some time. Well said.
As others have said 7 points from 9 ain’t bad.
It would have felt better if Bradford had slipped up.
UTS.

Feel like that last night is going to be a massive turning point. If we had won we win the league. Now I have my doubts we go up.

Very good points. But not worthy of being an excuse.

And when previous promotion teams have needed that little bit more we’ve gone out and signed some know how. Nick Henry who complemented the youthful Exuberance of Keates and Bjarni. The arrival of Steiner and Cramb two proven forwards who could deliver with Rambo

Harper, Benjamin and Cooper - a great trio from Dickie Dosh

Did Fitz and Hall join later in the second Graydon promotion I think they did.

Then to this season we’ve signed some kids they won’t play, Players from the bench of Bromley and MKD. Whilst our rivals decide to have a bloody good go.

But it’s okay Trivela can do no wrong because you don’t have queue for a beer any more.

Shite happens. Not a bad point in the grand scheme of things but with the added context it’s a kick in the balls.

Beat Swindon then it’s 10 points from 12. Anything less and last night really is a shit result.

Don’t you rate Harrison?

Are most players crap until proven otherwise?

We’re top by 7 points.

It might have been a night to bring on H to replace Stirky or JJ after the first goal back. Could have then put Oisin just in front of the back 3 as they were only gonna go long or chuck crosses into our box. Life is full of learnings and I’m sure Mat learnt that last night.

Why do people quote the lead at the top
Of the table how about focus on the rate at which is diminishing.

I think Harrison is a L2 striker. But so is DJ. He bags two vs Salford then doesn’t get a sniff. I feel for the bloke. I think Ellis was below the required standard last night.

How many of the 1000 travelling fans or following the game had that thought … Sadler didn’t

That’s why i hope Mat will learn from this. It would have killed their momentum and it would have gave us more protection at the back. Hopefully he will know for the next time

The dust has settled…

Good performance for 90mins.

Good point away from home against a solid in form Cheltenham team.

Big Performance and 3 points against Swindle will be a very positive week and strengthen our promotion challenge.

We’ve gone from being 12 points clear of 4th on the 1st January to 10 points clear of 4th on the 1st March.

Some rate that is diminishing at.

I’m with ‘Stretch’ all the way on this.
The next 2 games will be season defining in my view.
Swindon - on the rise and in good form, and Carlisle - due a first win under Mark Hughes!
I remain positive, but :poop: scared of say only picking up one point from these fixtures!!

We’ve gone from 15 points clear of 4th on 18th Jan to 10points on 25th February. That’s 5 points in a month. March and April to come … repeat that rate of erosion and it’s a bit to close for comfort.

In a month it’s rather worrying !

Points in the bag count more but 2 of the chasing pack have games in hand now. Vale have 2.

Having read some of the comments on here I can only assume that in addition to the two goal surrender last night (I’m in the would’ve taken a point before so not the end of the world camp btw), we’ve been deducted 15 points that I’m not aware of? Jesus Christ.

Ten points clear of 4th place with 13 games to go and we’ve ‘bottled it’ and it’s ‘pathetic’ and ‘unacceptable’. Absolutely barmy.

Yes I think Flynn really enjoyed managing Walsall as he does managing Cheltenham. I wish him luck.in the future. He didn’t manage to bring us success but he is a decent guy.

The supporter’s response at the end was wonderful.
No recrimination or anger due to (perhaps understandable) frustration at the result. Just appreciation and, I think, an understanding that as supporters we do all we can to help keep this thing going.
