Cheltenham Town (A) Feb 25th, 7.45pm kick-off

How about just for once praising a young team who have done really well this season. They have exceeded my expectations so far and the expectations of many fans. We are now in the final straight and they deserve support during that. It is likely there will be the odd disappointment along the way but lets not give up just yet!!!

Michael Flynn: Walsall draw ‘felt like a win’ for Cheltenham boss - BBC Sport

I agree, it was a right hammer blow, so it was really pleasing to see everyone stay and clap the team off.

A lot of posts on here are just raw emotions, better to get them out on here than at the game in my opinion. Although I deliberately didn’t post until I got home last night.

We all want it so much and football is cruel sometimes, but nothing is lost, we are still picking up points. Home games will be key for us, need more wins than draws and hopefully no defeats.

Are we safe from the relegation battle yet folks? Reading comments on here it seems we are getting sucked into it with each game! (Tiny bit overboard I know, but you know what I mean…)

Well, now you mention it….

The bottom 2 can only get a maximum of 65 points now so we’re safe.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

And Tranmere could only get a maximum of 67 with our goal difference being way better.

We’re now at the stage of the season where we can start ticking off the teams that can’t catch us. :+1:

I hope you are right @Bags10 i don’t want be visiting these tin pot grounds next season

@WalsallOne when the final whistle has gone and promotion is in the bag then the praise and back slapping can begin. Sadler can deservedly enjoy his new contract. Trivela can get some credit and I can have a summer off from being negative.

Until then nothing is achieved. I’ve looked at the fixtures and tables several times today. I think we’ll finish 3rd and go up. I’m worried we’ll have a close shave with 4th. I have us on 82 points which has been on the cusp on 3rd/4th historically.

Notts County and Wimbledon both have a game in hand but they play each other on the 8th. So one of them or hopefully both are going to lose points.

Vale also have to play Crewe, Bradford and us for 3 games in a row. And then their last away game is at Wimbledon.

Why wait to the Summer to stop being negative? Start now and enjoy life!!

I see that Cheltenham have to play 5 of the 6 below us plus Grimsby. ( currently 8th)

With their upturn in form they could do us a favour.

We play 4 of the 6 below us too, as well as Grimsby.

Yes there will be plenty of twists and turns and the chasing pack will stutter along the way I just feel that we are going to be relying on those other teams stalling whereas it looked for most of the season we were going to do it under our own steam.

And 5 of the bottom 7. I think that worries me more than the games against the top teams.

7 points clear with 13 to go if Port Vale win both games in hand and Notts County and Wimbledon each win one game in hand of 4th place.

They play each other next week too

The majority of the ‘doom merchants’ don’t actually attend games anyway. Crazy expectation levels.

True, I hope for a draw.

Excuse me. I’m the #1 doom merchant and I attend for my weekly dose of doom with a side of gloom

So all that reduction of our lead took place during our winless run, a blip which during what was back then just a good start we all said would come at some point and that it would be important we didn’t panic and over react when it came and we must continue to back the lads.

We’ve come out the otherside of that with a decent lead still and we are now unbeaten in 4.

If the lads continue their current form and we continue to back them as they deserve and not let our nerves impact on them, we will be just fine.

Come you Saddlers.
