They announced there would be 2 inspections. The first yesterday and another at 8am this morning.
They should have waited. I think they got spooked by the weather forecast.

I am not into conspiracy theories usually but this looks like one. Temperatures did not fall below freezing there last night and are currently 3 degrees in Cheltenham. The only game off in the EFL as well. Looking at the week ahead our game next Saturday will certainly be off if the same criteria are used and our momentum will have been stalled. Not good in my view …someone above mentioned 1981 and we don’t want a repeat of that. I think we will be ok with the squad we have but this appears to be an an unnecessary break.
It’s frustrating that the game is off but I suppose it gives the players a well deserved rest while the chasing pack have to go again with the added risk of injuries and fatigue playing a part.
The break will do us good but I’m really struggling to see how the frost was that bad that it couldn’t go ahead.Sounds a bit knee jerk to me.
Let’s just face it it’s off and they are probably more pleased about it than we are, with injuries, loan players returning, we are on such a great run etc etc the list goes on.
Covering their pitch with a few bin liners was never going to stop a frost, especially after the pitch was already frozen the night before to start with.
Breaks never seem to do us any favours, I know players need a break but I think this lot are being driven by pure ambition atm, just look at Jellis’s comment leaving the pitch at County…" never ever right us off…"
I hate saturdays without our games, and hate Tuesday evening rearranged games even more but there’s nothing any of us can do about it other than to just keep an eye on our rivals results and hope they go our way.
Enjoy the day everyone and UTS.
What’s the betting a lot of our squad will be down at Essington today getting in a bit of extra training. Players don’t enjoy just sitting around and being told to rest. There will of course be a few who will enjoy a lie-in this morning, but my guess most would have wanted the game on.
Remember reading that in 2011 it was costing approx 10k to run under soil heating for the seven days it would need. Probably double that now.
On our local news last they showed Northampton Saints rugby and Cambridge United both using pitch covers supplied by a Northants company. The Cambridge official said it costs £2000 which is what they would lose on catering if the game was postponed.
It seems the decision to postpone early was premature.
Why didn’t they leave it until this morning to make a decision?
We’re on a winning run and when that happens you want the games to come thick and fast. I don’t agree that a postponement suits us really and my bet would be that the players feel the same.
Reminds me of when the Norwich manager (Lambert) was desperate for a postponement at our place a few years back. A bit of frost by one corner flag that day but he put enough pressure on the ref to get it called off. Pretty sure Flynn would have done something similar this time, although I agree the ref should have come back out this morning.
Cheltenhams ground is down in the town, not up on the hill like FGR, so possibly a degree or so warmer than the forecast
I live just by the ground and the game should 100% be on. No frost this morning so the pitch would have thawed.
We can just sit back this afternoon and watch the also-rans with their feeble attempts to join us in business class
No problem with subs though if they played…
Just needs the pools panel to forecast a Cheltenham home win now .and we’ll know them Asian betting syndicates are in on it
I got a bit of stick on social media for saying this, but I’m not sure the rest is that important compared to the momentum of how we are playing. Bear in mind we would have had a full week off anyway after today.
It would have been another game Lowe would have been definitely available for us.
It’s not the end of the world and we can take the positives of having the rest, but I really do hope we can get next Saturday’s game on.
Why, does he have frost covers on his armchair?
Does anyone know when the rescheduled game is likely to be?
Meanwhile … Notts County 1 Swindon Town 0 (17 min) …. EDIT, now 2-0 (36 min)
