Let’s not forget their fans chucking vapes and bottles at Simkin, to the point where the referee had to stop the game and inform their safety team.
That only wasted more time. I was surprised the referee only added 5 minutes!!!
That was borderline red in my view but no card!
Simkin’s injury breaks aside, we haven’t been great at time wasting over the season. Other teams seem far better at it than us.
The ref never adds enough time on to compensate either. There have been a few games where we have got a late-ish equaliser and not had the opportunity to go for the winner because hardly any football was played due to time wasting antics.
Had we been a bit more savvy at Cheltenham for example and did what Crewe did at Walsall for another example, we’d probably be done and dusted now enjoying the summer break.
I did notice our trainer was more interested in giving the referee a bottle of water and a kit- Kat than seeing to Simpkin injury .
The trains could be a nightmare, with Villa also playing Friday night.
Got no other way of getting there Friday, unfortunately. I do hate mixing with that lot though.
Be loads on at Rugeley, get some banter going with them!
It’s usually quite convivial when the Villa fans are on the same train. Last time we were all having a moan.
But I’m in the car on Friday. The train times are rubbish, especially with the possibility of extra time and penalties. Conceivably it could mean arriving back in Cannock after midnight…and no-one should be out and about in Connock after midnight.
Can’t be doing with them. Last time there were a few taking the piss out of my Son because he stutters a bit sometimes. That’s along with “You are my second favourite club”
I don’t want to think about extra time to be honest, I do think it is a real possibility though.
I try not to go out and about in the day around Cannock, let alone after midnight. Upstairs in Bar sports used to be interesting though!
Fleck on Jamma, about 10 minutes in.
There were 4 really bad tackles by them in the first 30 mins. The first was on Jamma, borderline red. The Sky pundits were amazed no card issued. Then there was the one which did result in a yellow, followed by the wiping out of Liam for the pen. Then their forward went over the ball and took Tayls out in our half.
On goalkeepers.
I have seen them suffer more injuries this season than in the previous 60 plus years combined.
I absolutely hate it. I think it devalues the game, but perhaps I’m just an old fuddy duddy.
It’s frustrating that the authorities have done nothing to clamp down on time wasting. There are some simple solutions.
- No subs after 85 mins.
- Any player claiming to have a head injury should automatically see a physio and leave pitch for 30 secs
- Any player with anything other than a head injury should be given 10 secs to get up. After that physio comes on as above.
- Goalies going down - the outfield players should stay in the centre circle- no drinks and no coaching at the touchline.
It’s time the decision to call on the physio is made the default and taken away from the player.
Agree with 1 and 2.
Point 4… if the goalie is ‘injured’ and can’t leave the field, the opposition can nominate a player of their choice from the goalkeepers side to serve the 30 seconds on the touchline.
It was 100% yellow and 1/2 would give a red it was an awful challenge
I like the idea, although I let the opposition choose, but a nominated player has to go off. That would stop the play acting.
Frustrates me a lot when players go down holding their heads. The referee has to act, stop the game for the players welfare. I get that, but the afformentioned player should then go off for a minimum of 10 minutes for an HIA. Obviously a replacement comes on for that period and stays on if the HIA confirms any head injury. This will stop this feigning head injuries and time wasting. It’s a case of crying wolf and just one day, it will happen, a player collapsed and unfortunately ends up with a serious injury or worse. BTW, what are the PFA doing about it?
Just leave em on the floor for a bit. If they don’t move for a few minutes then get the trainer on
Good old days
Or just play round them. They do in Rugby
