The fact it’s nearly a sell out is good enough for me.
Giving them less tickets obviously means we have to shift more for ourselves, so there will be probably close to 9000 home fans already, which is good.
I wonder how many we’d take to Wembley if we got there, 20-25k?
I’ve already posted that fans of my generation and even those a good number of years younger than me, carry the knowledge and the weight of our past failures but for younger generations this is uncharted territory - unless they listen to the yarns of old miseries like me.
If we could get to the Final I think it would be great for so many.
I took my daughter to London a few weeks ago, and as we went past Wembley on the train i explained what it was and what games they play there - internationals, finals etc, not thinking we might play there at the end of this month. I told her last week we’d go if we win the next two games (Sunday obviously being the first) and I havent heard the end of it since. She is at the younger end of the scale, but this would be a massive event for youngster as you say - I vaguely remember Bristol City in the play offs and obviously been to every play off game since, but it is easy to forget how much of an event and new experience this would be for our younger fans, and by younger anyone under 20 or a bit older probably. I hope we do it not only for me but for my daughter and all the other youngsters forming the next generations of our support. Come on Walsall!!!
That’s what I’m thinking aswell. The Moor St train is the best option.
My wife wanted to book it saying there’s a refundable option.
Told her not to as it would curse it!
Point being, you’d expect a complete sell out, where we have actually sold all the tickets, way before this point for a game like this and not have completely untouched blocks free, whether you count that as “nearly” or not.
And, wouldn’t we have done the same in Bradford’s position? The absolute release of 95 minutes’ worth of tension and unbridled joy came out in that pitch invasion. I have to say, a lot of Bradford fans have been very gracious to us on social media, wishing us well in the playoffs- fair play to them. They shouldn’t have been in Division 4 for so long given their fanbase.
You must be looking in different places to me, they have absolutely slaughtered us. That’s fine though, it is as you would expect.
And yeah, the pitch invasion would 100% have happened at Walsall if the same situation happened. I think their chairman said he didn’t mind paying the fine.
On the attendance. The playoffs across the country seem a bit down. Notts County only sold just over 10k home tickets which is approx 1k over the usual home crowd. Sheffield Utd didn’t sell out last night. If we sell 8k home tickets that would be 2 or 3k more than usual. Add in the fact that our big crowds will contain a few hundred curious floating Villa fans who are also at home Friday night.
