It’s at home @Exile:joy:

A comfortable Saddlers win 2-0 to send us top of the table, for a short time at least.

After the show etc. Low nervous energy, sub 5k gate. I will take a draw now.

Must say think this has been made a lot more difficult because of the early KO , as it’s been said the atmosphere is always different/difficult for the early games.
Hopefully we can put a performance in :crossed_fingers:

You’d normally think Colchester at home would be one of the easier fixtures, but dont be fooled, Colchester seem to be progressing rapidly under Danny Cowley

E.g.

  • Are 2nd top scorers in the division (12)
  • Third in the xG table (10.9)
  • Have the highest shots per match in League 2 (6.4)
  • Top of touches in opposition box over the season so far (186)
  • 5th in the average possession table (52.9%)

From the few highlights Ive seen they are quite aggressive, quick and powerful in attack,

So this while we shouldnt fear them. This will be a tough game. I cant but help think that after Tuesday night’s exertions we may be a bit flat, plus a 12:30 kick off may have a bearing on our readiness/the atmosphere too.

Think we need our fittest 11 starting this one because it will be hard work.

I fancy a 1-1 draw and Id actually be very happy with that.

Simkin

Okagbue
Williams
Allen

Barrett
Stirk
Gordon (L)

Jellis
Cleary
Lakin

Lowe

1230 Kick off - urgh!
Makes it really difficult for me to attend…but despite my missus deep displeasure I have got my ticket.
I wonder how many fans can’t/won’t attend these early kick offs?

Anyway, I’m looking forward to this - whatever the kick off time - and I hope our good run continues.

After Tuesday I think a 1-1 draw will be the most likely score .

Edging into games we should win territory here. Playing a (perennial) mid table League Two side at home. Form has been excellent so far, but if you are going to actually make something of the season these are the games you should be racking up points.

Draw wouldn’t be a disaster, mostly because of picking up 3 points in games you’d expect to be very tough (Bradford, Salford away).

I thought Saddler was clever (mark it down) in his use of midfielders against Leicester, rotating Jellis and Lakin for each other (especially as Earing may be out. If he’s fit I’d think he has a chance of playing, although Lakin had his best display by far against Salford), and Allen only played 20 odd mins.

Lowe is the only one that has looked leggy, and put in another huge effort, playing most of the game. I’d still prefer a tired Lowe to Matt if I’m honest though. Lowe & Cleary/Johnson would be interesting to see as a partnership. Gives you far more variety in my opinion. I wouldn’t be too worried about the centre halfs, the work isn’t as intense as in other areas. Barrett and Gordon would be another are where we could be leggy, but like Lowe, I think I’d still prefer them to their alternatives.

For what it’s worth, I think we will get the job done.

Surely an audience well in excess of 5k? Appreciate the gate Colchester bring them is likely to be disappointing.

What on paper looks a relatively bread and butter game but on the grass is likely to be an incredibly difficult test. If I were Sadler, and what he knows is far in excess of me and I am a keen student of the game, I’d be looking to freshen things up. One thing I would like to see is us take better care of the ball when we are in possession.

A fixture where supporters contribution will be potentially massive, despite the early kick off i Implore every Saddlers supporter to do their bit and recreate what was a very special atmosphere on Tuesday.

As it is a rare 12:30 Kick off, it’s paramount from a H&S point of view that you remind people the correct time to start occupying their allocated seats.

It would be helpful for audience members if there was am/pm clarity around kick off time. It would be a serious health a safety hazard if people tried to occupy their allocated seats either twelve hours too early or twelve hours too late.

Very tough match, they will want it more than Leicester and will be a lot more of a threat attacking more direct and with more desire
Tough game and with our recent energy sapping displays I think we may draw this

I will arriving by 1045 and need to get 4 pints inside before entering the ground and then another 2 before KO in lower tier. Anyone know what time the Locker will be open? Also can I pre-order my 4 pints for halftime in advance via the new app?

I’m not particularly fond of an early morning kick off, it throws my routine off a little - no big deal.
I’m hoping we can maintain out good form at home and return to our winning ways. Our home record is excellent this season, let’s not blemish it on Saturday.
I’m expecting a good game and a decent crowd of supporters urging us on to victory.

Important game for me this one. It’s a six pointer in the Acorns who’ll be higher at Christmas 2024 bet with @Stretch .
At present looking like my £20’s safe.

I hope we win but they won’t be a pushover.
The effort put in on Tuesday may catch up with the saddlers although I hope I’m wrong about that.
Hopefully a big turnout to lift the team and keep our great start to the season going.

4 pints at half time? You must have hollow legs!
