A decent breakfast? It’s only half 12 how decent are we talking here?
Go to a pub that does bacon butties at 10. Problem solved.
No I like to have something early as I don’t like drinking on a full stomach.
Or just cheat and have two bags of bacon fries
as I’ve said, can’t drink on a full stomach, so like to get up early and have a good sized breakfast… mrs red&white willing that is
It’s 12.30 kick off just have a cup of tea and a croissant no need for an early beer. Sure you can all cope and have fun without a beer for a game!
Haha I’m only joking, it is an interruption. Not so bothered about home games to be honest as I don’t really drink at home games and it’s easy enough to get to without much disruption, but I’m pretty pissed off Port Vale away has been moved.
Haven’t heard that saying for donkeys years
Are the clubs really benefiting? All clubs want to do as well as they can within (or sometimes beyond) their budgets. When money enters the system at our level, every team gets more money, agents realise that and players ask for more, and we are back to square one. An individual team can benefit from a cash injection but a global increase just raises the background level.
It is different in the PL because they are on an international stage, so more money means that they can attract better players from around the world.
And in all of it, the supporters are ignored. Tomorrow, for example, the Colchester supporters have to make a very early start to ensure arrival in time for KO.
We have a remarkable defensive record this term, so far: 12 competitive games, 7 goals conceded. This is especially notable as we have also conceded a huge percentage of possession in most or many of those games, particularly against the so-called big boys who do have a tendency to knock the ball about in defence and/or midfield and/or on the edge of the penalty area for about 5 minutes at a time before deciding what to do.
Successful teams nearly always build that success from the back, so this defensive meanness is a very good sign.
Yeah. Substantially. They voted for it in unison, which never happens. If they weren’t I doubt that would be the case.
I am not sure clubs benefit substantially.
The Accrington Stanley owner has said the TV deal is worth an extra £300k per annum.
That’s an (admittedly very rough) equivalent of 15,000 paying spectators.
Depends how many fans decide not to go to a match because it’s an early kick off.
Jack and Ada’s for 9
Writing selfishly, I’ve liked games not-at-3pm-on-Saturday because it always meant I could watch them. It’s only rarely that I can get to Bescot and the number of away games close to South Wales is limited (and fluctuates! Moreover, my erudite fellow partners-in-crime, Chester/Belph and Welshie, are no longer available to travel with ). But now I can even watch for free, with enhanced coverage, thanks to the deal that’s been done with Sky. However, I do have sympathy with fans who prefer the traditional Saturday fare.
And those Walsall supporters that live near Colchester!
Given the KO is early I have decided to just go for it.
Going to go Spoons Wednesbury - it opens at 0800 (will leave at 0100 - so might sleep in the market). Breakfast and wash my arm pits in the bogs. Get UBER to Locker so I can be first in (hopefully it opens at 1000) get a few down me, few in lower, then back to Locker, then back to Spoons for Dinner, then onto Brum on the tram. Going to Reflex as the drinks am cheap till 2000 and free entry
going to be a tight game … going for a 3:2 win
I’ve no idea what their attendances used to be compared to what they are now, and how accurate those figures are, but if that’s the case I’m not sure why the Accrington Stanley chairman, and literally every other chairman in the league voted for it if it were the case.
I’m suspicious of these chairman (Accrington is not the first, including our own) coming out now and saying “Oh that deal, it’s not that good!”. Sounds like “yeah, we have had a bit more money, but don’t expect us to spend any!” to me.
The football league is never unanimous in anything. Imagine getting 92 people in a room and trying to get a unanimous opinion on anything. Virtually impossible, yet they were on this.
I’m at work as well til a finish. Catching the 11.50am train to Bescot so should be ok. And it gives me an excuse to get out of work earlier than normal
If it costs us 500 spectators for every home game thats moved to an early kick off, then we would still be in front.
Assuming we get 6 a season, that’s 3,000 fans.
Thats my guess anyway!
