Looking at the squad Bags10 kindly provided, we could easily put out a challenging 2nd team given our strength in depth.
It will be interesting to see how the new boys perform when our midfielders and strikers start to get tired in the 2nd half of games.
Would it be fair to leave DJ out after his heroics on Saturday? Will Jamma be fit? Is Wheatley going to come good? All good headaches for MS.
We have an extremely strong squad, one that should overpower our opponents.

I honestly don’t know what to predict.
I hope we can see better defending than we have seen in recent weeks. If we can keep it tight until half time, I am sure we can win the game with one of our barnstorming second half performances.
I’ll go for 2-0.
It’s going to be a very tough ask because Colchester are a work in progress and we need to get back to winning ways.
I hate the journey to their place but I’ll be in good company with my fellow saddlers.
For all the midfield and forward additions its key the defence gets back to its best to get someting out of this game.
Weve gone 7 game’s without a clean sheet and gone 2-0 down in 4 of the last 5, conceding at least 1 inside the first 15 minutes
Very pleased that we have attacking options and back up in midfield but like other posters my main concern is the goals we have been conceding. If we can get back to getting clean sheets or as near as damm it that is far more important for me. Having said that defending is easier if the ball is sticking up front and we have bought in players who can do that.
It all depends on whether Jamma is fit. If he is then he’ll be straight back in (he is Sadler’s captain for a reason and brings more to the team than his own performance). If not then the straight swap of Amantchi plus 1 other, stay with Saturday’s starting front 2 (Flash and Wheatley), or mix it up further with DJ’s brace getting him the nod alongside the unknown quantity in Harrison - take your pick!
Elsewhere, I’d consider McEntee in for Dave - or maybe move one of those 2 across and give Williams a rest? I wouldn’t be unhappy with Weir being given a run out, but not if either of Dave and/or Harry are dropped as we don’t want to disturb the backline too much.
Midfield I’d keep as is to start but have a couple of the newbies ready to step up if we need to shake things up a bit. I’m hoping that them just being on the bench gees up our performance levels back to what they were (less than a month ago!) as players realise they aren’t guaranteed a place. If it doesn’t go to plan then we should have a wealth of riches to choose from to change things up.
Overall, we don’t want too much tinkering until everyone has bedded in - but I hope Colchester do throw all their deadline signings on from the start and that disrupts their usual flow. Don’t think it will be a repeat of the 4-0 spanking we gave them at our place, but I think we will get back to winning ways (or at least not losing).
Just avoid conceding an early goal again - this has really caused us to have an uphill battle past few games…
We’ve gotta get back to doing what we do well - we don’t need loads of possession btw
0-2
I agree - stand firm for the first 45 then unleash the hounds of war second half.
Anyone got any idea on what our allocation was and how many we’ve sold?
You could always advise the clubs and match officials to call it off early Crod, save all the saddler fans travelling after all health and safety is of paramount importance.
The initial allocation was 660 - but the away end holds much more than that so should be able to expand if there’s the demand. No idea how many have gone so far.
The hounds of war !!! Excellent.
I’ll be in rubbish company in the Colchester end
Blimey, fink about how you’ll be torkin arfta being subjected to a couple of hours of that.
Remember a crazy 4-4 in 15/16? We scored late on to equalise pretty sure Jimmy O connor hit the post even later to snatch a win
Should they be referred to as the hounds of love for the first half?
Were we winning, Colchester came back into it and took the lead then we equalised?
2-0 up I think.
I was at that game and it was ridiculous!
Drove there for the game and then into West London for an overnight and the NFL game at Wembley the day after - must have been in the car for about 8 hours that day!
Never think any team plays that well after a trek , 2-1 loss for me soz
