Can’t even compete with Solihull rabble rabble

Think it’s more of a case of not wanting him, I struggle to see how he would have even fitted in regarding how we set up.

Good point, we don’t play any football.

This would’ve never happened under Bonser :rage:

its scary how many people believe we were trying to sign him when he was telling fans it wasn’t going to happen

Very odd isn’t it.

And most people didn’t want him anyway :joy:

I really don’t understand the sudden criticism and complaints from people now sharing sentiments around ‘we can’t compete with Solihull for wages’, ‘shame on the club’ etc. They may have offered him a higher wage than us but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the right decision from us to not match or better that.

He came to us from Orient as a bit of a marquee signing during that summer and was on a massive wage with us for those two years. Granted, he had his ACL injury, but apart from the occasional moment of mercurial brilliance, the vast majority of his stint with us was massively underwhelming and disappointing, with a lot of time moaning at other players, shrugging his shoulders with his arse in his hand, and making tokenistic, half-arsed attempts to close defenders down.

Since he left us, he’s barely played much football at Motherwell or Colchester, and done nothing of note apart from three managers deeming him to be disposable to their squad. He is the last type of player with his injury/fitness history that I personally think we should be looking to recruit. I am quite relieved to see him go elsewhere and wish him well at Solihull.

If Solihull want to pay in excess of what we value him for, then more power to them. Just because they have isn’t necessarily an indictment on us in this isolated incidence, and doesn’t make us inferior to Solihull. I’m sure from reading UTS and across socials that the vast majority of fans were against Wilko returning to the Bescot anyway. Now he’s signed elsewhere, fans are up in arms and applying some revisionist history. I don’t get it myself personally.

Anyone who thought that Sadler, 14 months after releasing Wilkinson, was going to bring him back into the club as some form of second coming wants their head checking :joy:

I’m glad we haven’t signed him, even if there was a dim prospect. Apart from a couple of ‘worldy’ goals, my abiding memory of him is him being unfit.

Everyone says they don’t want him then when he signs for Solihull they say we couldn’t compete with them :joy: Maybe just maybe the coaching staff were of the same opinion as us.

Is this the same Solihull that signed Jos Labadie? Let them have Wilkinson - if he wanted a big wage, then we were right to say no, if indeed that is what happened.

I know we are desperate to sign a striker or two, but Wilko I believe wouldn’t of been the answer.

He scored a few for us, but has mainly been injured, dropped, or really moody …

We wait for better in my mind.

According to this, he had been in discussion with Moors for a few weeks.

Why is it that some of our supporters take every opportunity to knock the club?
“We couldn’t afford him” :joy: Absolute bollocks.

Did we have a sell-on clause when we let him go?

I believe we did Andy.

If by any stretch of the imagination we did discuss the possibility of him coming here I would think and hope it fell through with regard to contract length not salary the only way we should have been offering him anything should have been very short term match by match for him to prove his fitness and worth to us . No way would I be giving him a 12 month contract which he’s got at Moors .
