As strong or better set is the same as saying much stronger really. The fact is we weren’t close to either of his possibles.
I think he needs to deny saying he denied saying what he said! I like Ben but he is digging himself out of a hole in the wrong direction!
They knew it was a strong possibility Lowe was going back.
One job was to replace him adequately. We were never going to get like for like. We didn’t need to, the hard work was done.
Just a good forward with good off the ball movement, who gave defenders something to worry about. We failed. Other than DJ we don’t have a forward who has any idea about actual forward play, where to make runs, or where to be.
We had plenty of time to sort this properly and no need for some of the other signings which appear to have upset the place. They said we were prepared for Lowe returning. We weren’t and it cost us promotion.
I have to say that both myself and my lad thoroughly enjoyed the day, it was brilliant to see him absorb and take part in the amazing away support. Of course the flip side was the emotional wrench that we all had to suffer at the end but even now he’s excited for the play off games and the dream of Wembley (the folly of youth eh?). Anyhow I took a load of photos and this one summed up the mood when we scored.
I’m sure the Draper near miss will be explained in greater detail and in fairness that type of transfer getting pulled happens to endless clubs every summer and January. Harrison was a plan B type move but after a few early goals his influence has waned.
Also important to know when exactly the club got word that Stoke were seriously thinking of recalling Lowe. December? January? A hour before it happened?
I think with regards the other loanees only M. Sadler can answer that as ultimately the club gave him numbers and he didn’t use these players until three weeks ago so that is on him but I suspect he won’t be in a job to tell the fans why he didn’t play them much when results were starting to dip.
Real failure of the second part of the season he ended up as the starting CF on the final day. He’s been as good as you’d expect a backup at Bromley to be let’s be honest.
Would’ve been different if it had been signing Michael Cheek on 18 month deal. He’s scored over 25 goals at this level which is some going.
The forward line is in a complete mess now regardless of whether promotion is achieved.
Harrison- No idea if he’s been dropped/injured and whether we’ll see him again in the play offs but after a few early goals he hasn’t done much.
Amantchi- A long way from week in week out starter at league 2 level nevermind league one.
Matt- Shown his age as the season has gone on and his influence has reduced. Again can’t be a serious option for the league above if it comes to that.
Adomah- Even older. Most regular starter upfront in second half of the season.
J. Gordon- Sadler’s lad but missed loads of this season with injury and as we know not a goalscorer anyway.
DJ- Alton Towers closed for maintenance today so back on the bench randomly and gone very soon.
It’s really not a great base to start the summer with. Should’ve signed someone else on a permanent for half the Freddie bid and then going up would’ve bring in more income to perhaps sign him this summer.
You did not include the player who could have been the best option since February - Ethan Wheatley. Man Utd fans were wishing he could be in their Europa League side (or they were until their side’s recent improvement of form). I know that he has not impressed for us, but when playing for England U19 and Man Utd U21 he shows that he has talent as a striker and can score.
Of the others I would much prefer to see Josh Gordon that any one of Matt, Harrison, Adomah or Amantchi in attack. Adomah should only ever play in a wide position.
Wheatley was put in too early, he started Bradford and Fleetwood away and that knocked his confidence. Thought he might’ve come back into serious contention in late March/April but didn’t really happen.
Didn’t include him as the loan has been terminated without anyone announcing it.
Amantchi has shown promise…or did do until our idiot manager decided to play him up front on his own. It didn’t work last time, it didn’t work today. He did OK alongside Jamma.
Yet again Sadler manages to get the worst out of our players.
George Hall played in a similar way to Josh Gordon yesterday, but with the added bonus of being able to score. I think we do need a player like that. For all the flack he gets, If we had a fully fit Josh Gordon available I think we would have got over the line, but if George hall can do the job all the better. Given their injury records we will probably need both to play some part in the playoffs.
