Go easy on those goblets of wine croddy. It doesn’t go together well with typing ![]()
The Paglet track sounds better
Excellent preview Steve. Thanks for the effort mate ![]()
I’m starting to believe that we can go up this season. Mostly this is because it looks like we’re having a decent January transfer window. I’ve loved Pattison and although we’ve lost Finnegan we’ve swapped one league one midfielder for another.
Trivela seem to have learnt from last years disaster. Hope we get one more striker in before the window closes as I don’t think Roofe will be a Walsall player much longer
So on to Accrington - a team, as Steve says, we’ve not done that great against over the past few years. Their last visit here was a real kick in the teeth. To think a draw would have seen us up and we couldn’t even manage that.
I, and most have fans, are expecting a win. Make no mistake, this is a huge match in terms of matching our expectations and for Sadler and the gang to show us all they have what it takes.
Think we all know Sadler will start Jamma. I’m still uneasy about this but he was good against Tranny. Keep it up please Jamma and fire us to league 1
So going with 2 - 0 Walsall. Jamma with two first half goals after being turned by Accy. COYS!
I"m afraid that remains to seen.
I’m struggling to see it, to be honest. The window isn’t closed yet so I can’t judge yet.
Pattison looks a good pick up but we did lose Finnigan who was playing well for us. I don’t see much in the way of strengthening yet. We also lost Okeke who is a very talented player.
My Greystone Accountants key player is Alec Pattison who will have a busy afternoon but his quality on the ball could be the key to unlocking the Stanley defence and my Softhand Solutions Ltd prediction is a 3-0 rout for the Super Saddlers.
Last seasons defeat at home to Accrington was costly. Nothing less than 3 points is acceptable.
Same starting 11 as last week. Big decisions on the bench.
Subs:
Hornby, Kasper, Lakin, Clarke, Adomah, Richards, Pressley
I’m annoyed we lost Jid but Mason is back now and I reckon Albert and Browne could job share right wing back if Conner gets injured. Maher could do a job there too.
Overall I’m happy with January so far. Could get even better if we’re able to ship Warrington out and get a good cdm in and also a decent young striker. Let’s see.
Agree that we really need to beat Accy on Saturday.
Still have nightmares about the Accrington game last season.
I’ve never known a manager react so passively after falling behind in such a critical game where he knew perfectly well at the time that, if he couldn’t win the game, avoiding a defeat was perhaps the key result of the season - he even had the massive benefit of knowing that Bradford had buggered things up before kick-off.
What the fluck was going on in Sadler’s head at the time?
You are doing a good job of showing we haven’t strengthened so far there.
We didn’t have a choice about Jid going back but he was good on both sides. I’m not convinced Hancock is as good, or how long it will take him to get up to speed.
That’s not the point though, now you are suggesting as back up at right wing back, we use either a 38 year old that Sadler has seen as striker most of his time with us, or a centre back, or maybe a young player that Sadler has shown virtually no interest in over the past 2 years. I am sure they could “do a job” but that isn’t a definition of strengthening in my view.
I’d be happy if we got in another CDM, anything as long as Comley doesn’t have to go on the pitch.
Still time, anything could happen, I guess.
I was listening to the interview with Kanu about tomorrow’s game against Accrington and he mentioned it’s our first home game in 2026, blimey January 24th before our first game at home.
Dan is my man
Fair point mate.
Only thing I’ll say is that now he’s gone we’re saying Jid was great and first choice. Jid was an exciting player and I loved watching him bomb forward. But the lad was defensively shakey and not the finished.article. I’d have liked him to stay but we have options in that position.
I was saying it when he was here. Could never understand how it was a consideration that Harper started in front of him. I am being a bit unfair on Hancock though, he looked useful in preseason. Hopefully he can kick on now.
A few mistakes from Jid cost us important goals, Although I did like him
Which goals?
I am agog at the disappointing oversight by the club here.
Going for the belt and braces approach to planning my day, and given the link up offer may cause an increased audience at the arena, I could do with knowing when to take my allocated seat.
Could @KingCrod advise please?
Give him a chance… he’s still checking the weather forecast and browsing dirty Barry’s latest stash.
Just about to set off.
I set off with quite an optimistic bounce in my step. Pattison makes such a difference to this team and I’m really hoping that a Pattison type liberates the best of Jellis.
Blimey - there might be a functioning back to front midfield in there somewhere.
Anyway, safe travels - see ya there for another 3-1 victory.
