Kinsella and Earring doesn’t work against decent sides, or if a team plays 352. Kinsella very poor, as was Osadebe, Earring, Phillips, Khan and Miller. Defence always has a mistake in them.

This team is just about capable of beating dross but is unable to compete with competent sides. Newport have a game plan which is going to win this with minimum fuss. Combination of manager and player ability imo.
I wouldn’t expect this team to finish much higher than this in the table bang average don’t really create much and how 5ft tall Dominic Telford has won 2 headers free headers is shocking especially with Ash Taylor’s experience.
It’s a bit tricky getting to Walsall from the Costa del Sol … which stats do you find misleading?

Not sure what Earing and Khan have done wrong either. Earing the only one with any composure and Khan the only one that looks like beating a man.
Osedebe hasn’t been good but hasn’t been bad.
Agree on Miller and White though. Miller has to score the header and White looks like he’s forgotten how to play football.

You need more help than you’re two central midfielders to stop being “dominated”.
Shocking lacklustre laid back defending way more at fault for me. White was atrocious. Possibly one of the worst halves of football I’ve seen from a Walsall player. The centre halves don’t look like they’ve ever met.

If ever there was a great example of how the club are having us over then today is it.
A front three all either on loan or soon out of contract.
Of the two right backs on the pitch we definitely kept the poorer version.
But the biggest tell is at centre back. Clarke left us along with Scarr and we replaced them with a fella with a serious FA charge hanging over him (and all the probabilities that this entailed) and Ash Taylor. Ash Taylor - deary me.
Those decisions either financial in which case the “giving it a good go” is false or if they were decisions made by the DoF then he’s nowhere near deserving of the credit his boss gives him. Either way - it’s poor.
Anyway - let’s hope we liven up second half. All of us. It’s flat as a pancake.

I don’t want to focus on Kins, because he’s far from our worst player today. So I’ll stop there.

Matt is trying to get these players to play a certain way - and they just aren’t good enough to do it.

Earing, should be playing in his actual position if Labadie is fit.
Newport were much better than we were in the first half, they had more creativity and energy, they caused us problem with their high press. We came back into the game towards the end of the half but couldn’t come up with anything that troubled our opponents.
Playing one striker up front, at home, doesn’t show any attacking intent at all.
We need to bring on Wilkinson and Labadie in the second half and show some aggression.
The ref has been awful, she’s missed two blatant penalties on Ash Taylor who was absolutely mauled in the area.
He’s won it back yes but done Jack all with it, I know non league players who could do that.
I expect more.
