Another midfielder in on loan
Another kid expected a bit more than this but wish him and Chang all the best.
Welcome to them both, we have to give them a chance to show what they can do.
With these midfielders signing can’t help but think money will talk re JJ
If he does as well as the last two who have taken the Stoke to Walsall loan pathway then we’re in for an absolute treat. It’s turning into an excellent deadline day. Looks like one we’ve made a big effort and push to sign from the quotes.
“I’m delighted to sign for the Saddlers,” he said.
“It’s been a long time coming with talks throughout the whole window so I’m buzzing and ready to go.
“It’s my time to get football experience in the league now and there is no better place to start than Walsall.
“The team are flying at the moment so hopefully I can help as much as I can and get as much minutes as possible.”
Head Coach Mat Sadler is pleased to boost his squad.
“I’m happy we’ve been able to bring Darius in,” he said.
“Darius is an all action, powerful midfield player. He wants to run, wants to work hard.
“Thanks to the guys and our relationship with Stoke in allowing us to get this one over the line.
“We actually had Darius in for a few days a couple of weeks ago so I got to see him first hand.
“He’s got a very good attitude and he’s another one, alongside Alfie, who fits the mould of the type of player that we want.”
Welcome Darius, all the best.
Exactly my thoughts
Welcome young man. Hope you can contribute to our promotion push.
As always, welcome Darius and many good games. And I begin to wonder if someone will stay for next season. Maybe him.
No way we will do that.
Signing two inexperienced kids on loan and selling one of our key players. I really hope those days are behind us.
It is just to add depth I imagine as we lost Earing and Hall to long term injuries.
Promotion or not, I would not be getting season tickets next season if we start pulling tricks like that. I really don’t think it will be the case though. I expect Jellis will go in the summer though, and I’d expect us to try and replace him well.
No reason why not, it’s what we did with Hutch and it has worked out superbly.
Not in the middle of a promotion push we didn’t.
I’d expect Jellis to be sold, but not before the end of the season. That would be a crime.
Obviously knows David O from the Irish U20s - let’s hope he can be half as good at least as the last outfield loanee from Stoke. Welcome, Darius!
All the best to Darius hope he is a star but the last 5 signings all feel like they are just squad players. None of them say “this is the man who rubber stamps Walsall winning the league” which was what i was hoping for.
Same here mate really hate feeling negative over new signings they could turn out to be brilliant but it’s very risky and very cheap.
Only Lowe staying would imho guarantee promotion
It should have been a cert to be honest. We only needed slightly better than relegation form to get over the line for promotion. It’s a bit more now but would still be a mega collapse if we don’t do it.
I do feel a bit sorry for Wheatley, he has been brought in to replace Lowe, that is a lot of weight on young shoulders. Hopefully, he is the fearless type. I don’t think he has been as bad as some have made out to be honest, and think he might click if he can grab a goal, he almost got it Saturday.
Ive supported Walsall far too long to expect huge marquee signings on deadline day, we are most definitely not Wrexham. Ive never felt so confident in the management team, so lets welcome the new guys in and trust in sir Sads to do his stuff with them! i think he’s earned the right?
Little underwhelming signings, hope both darius and alfie prove to be better than atfirst glance, hopefully we can get players to sigh next season as all we get are young loan players…
If he’s any good stoke will just recall him
