Declan Skura Signs

Centre half on loan from Wycombe

No clue who he is but here is some info from X:

Interesting. Looks like someone signed to cover if Connolly dosen’t make start of season.

Few games for Wycombe in last two seasons and was at Yeovil last season so knows Ward. Loan cut short due to injury so feels a bit like Cox from Derby when looking at last season’s signings.

Welcome Declan.

Worrying that we havent got a lot of experience in that back line though…

I hear that he’s brighter than his sister Ob.

Looks like another high quality addition. He has unique attributes and a drive to develop with us. An aggressive defender, with an ability to break the lines and step in with the ball too which is an added bonus.

Think that’s our business almost done now, another couple and we will be there.

What are they?

Was that written in 1999? :joy:

Almost done?

We still need another 7 :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Think 7 ? I thought 5

Gk

Rb

Two wingers or one with a 10 depending on Maher

Striker ?

I’m not too worried about lack of experience at the back. We looked great for half a season with Allen, Williams and Okagbue with Simkin in goal.

Connelly has something like 20 less EFL appearances than Farq has. Burke has a season in the EFL under his belt. Keogh as a coach will help them through.

As long as the quality is right then I wouldn’t be too concerned about experience as long as there’s some there.

I believe he has a false leg and blind in his left eye which is why he prefers to play on the right.

The guy who does the interviews with new players/the manager is absolutely woeful.

He just leads the interview the whole way through. It’s painful.

‘So browser69, our first home friendly in front of our own fans against premier league opposition in Aston Villa at what will be a packed out Bescot Stadium is tonight. An opportunity that doesn’t come along very often. You must be really excited for that. Can you tell me more about that?’

What are you meant to say in response other than what they all do which is ‘er yeh, really excited and can’t wait to play the match’. There’s nothing left to say, the interviewee can’t show any personality as the interviewer has already covered everything you can possibly say about the match!

Defender who is 24 with few league apps, most of which are at NL level or below, and can’t get into the team at Wycombe - not enthused.

Thought we were only allowed one number 7 in the squad Bags?:face_with_hand_over_mouth::grin:

Is it though? I can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed. I’ve heard good things about Jed Ward, but I hope Kilroy is ready. No first team experience to this point. Our left backs are the same as last season. Our right back is Rico Browne who could barely get a game for large spells of his time here and an unknown quantity from Drogheda who has had a very bad injury. Our centre half options contain Burke, who I personally have never been sold on, I think he’s very average, Connolly who comes with mixed reviews at best, A young loanee and a crocked Harry Williams.

There are probably (hopefully) two more defensive signings to come. I hope they are good ones.

I personally think Burke looked solid all year last year had couple injury issues but don’t remember him really having a stand out bad game but obviously it’s personal opinion I like Hancock more than most I admit that I like idea behind Connolly but have seen him so can’t be sure Browne is solid but I agree unless the ahui is good I’d like another rb and cb we might need a experienced head as help but I don’t think we are miles off personally Wycombe fans seem to like this new lad but again I’ve not seen him I like our midfield big thing for me is not top end of the pitch I think we need two wingers and a striker

He hasn’t, but he’s been a part of some very bad defensive performances. He isn’t calamitous, I just don’t think he’s …. anything really. Just as I said, a very average League Two standard defender.

I see what you mean but I think it’s was his first season at this level he showed so very good physical attributes and at time but admittedly not enough some good on the ball play I’m hoping with us hopefully having more of the ball should mean less defending on our on box which makes a defenders life harder one thing I did really like about Burke as well he talks through a game which should help him as he progresses as his still young

played with Jed Ward at Yeovil last season too
