Do Walsall need to sign a striker?

There seem to be a variety of views on various threads, so thought it would be interesting to get concrete numbers on this topic.

Been saying it since before the deadline and I’m not the only one.

I’d try and get a free agent in on a contract until January then get a decent loan or a permanent signing in.

I know he’s a bit of a running joke on here but someone like James Norwood would do.

Pressley has had a great start but we need to either give Dallas a few starts in the 9 position, or even Sodje, to see if they can be relied upon to one, at least give Pressley a break, or even worse fill in for any injuries he may get.

If they don’t look up to it then yes 100% get another striker in.

Lack of goals have cost us how many points already, and today is another 2 points lost imho.

Definitely, but all the best free agent strikers have been taken up. Those left are probably too expensive for Trivela. We’ve left it too late in my opinion.

Agreed - yes we need a striker, but yes - that boat has sailed.

We always seem to leave the strikers till last position to bring in in our squad building, it’s where the big money is I suppose.

We did. Too late now until January. Can’t see us spreading many goals around this team. Shouldn’t have wasted wages on Adomah and signed someone.

I think they’ll give Dallas a run in the number 9 position before spending any more wages.

Another Striker would be nice but lets solve the issue of decision making in the final third first. We have proved that if you put good balls into the box Pressley will stick them in the net. We haven’t done that for two games.

Yes, we need anpther option, but if we’re playing 3 behind the number 9 they all should be chipping in with goals, or laying it on a plate for the striker, and they’re doing neither, which is the real worrying thing.

Would a different striker have made us score today? I don’t think so, the ball didn’t get to the striker, that was the main issue. The final ball was wrong every single time.

Trivela have to speculate to accumulate, surely they should have learned that by now if nothing else.

We have the Stevenage game coming up. Time to experiment? I think so . Dallas up front and Simper in the 10 role might work. Not sure a free agent would add much to this team.

Another striker would be usefull but only if we can put good balls into the box. Today we constantly overplayed around the box taking 1 pass to many or delaying the pass/cross allowing the Rochdale defence to get set and block the ball. Better balls into the box would mean our forwards having great chances rather than half chances.

It’s just Walsall all over isn’t it ! 4 years on the trot we’ve picked up some phenomenal loan strikers that have helped cover up the squad weaknesses. We finally get a really creative midfield and then decide to not bother with a quality goal scorer ,

Oh and to rub salt into the wounds we release a player that considered a shot ending up in a the car park as a close effort …….. only for him to morph into the L2 Messi .

P.S. please don’t turn this into another Lakin tit for tat
