Early Bird Season Tickets 24/25

Same for me the main reason I go is spend and afternoon with my dad and if we win, even better.

Over the years I’ve cared less and less about the actual football, it used to ruin my weekend… although this season has been the most weve enjoyed it in quite some time. Long may it continue, my support of the club was hanging on by a thread a few months ago :joy:

I took my only son to Fellows park for his first game when he was about 4 (he’s over 50 now). It was cold and wet and a nil nil draw. He never wanted to go again and hasn’t been to any sporting event since saying he’s not interested. I never took my daughter, who is 3 years younger than him, until she was 14 when she came back from a game at Norwich (she went with her mates from school) and asked me why I had never taken her to the football. I took her to the next game and she loved it. When she was at Uni in Kingston she even drove to Carlisle on her own for a Walsall game and for her 21st Birthday I asked her what she wanted for a present and she said she wanted to be a mascot and lead the team out. She had a photo of her with Jimmy Walker in the E&S. She and I are both Season ticket holders and all 3 of her kids have been Mascots at the Bescot. We’ll both be at Doncaster on Tuesday!

Was going to say surely not, how old are you, but then remembered we’re in walsall where you can have a 30 year old granson and still not qualify for a bus pass.

It’s poor from the club, of that there is no doubt. I’d question not only that it’s a bit of an insult to all of us who signed up to the original deadline the club advised but also the benefit of opening for a week mid-month, not close to most peoples pay-day and when our hopes of making the play-offs have regressed since the original offer.

Count me out of your generalisation, I’m happy with it.

I thought your objection last time was that they continue to call it the early bird when it is no longer early.

I was just having a joke by the way.

It’s a common theme in life I have found, people are more concerned with what others are getting, doing etc. I got mine at a price I was willing to pay. The more people that buy season tickets the better.

Hmm smells of slightly down sales to me. No great call for it, no real reason to reopen that soon. Some shrug at Championship level prices for League Two football through sheer loyalty and I applaud those people for their commitment, but I find them absolutely staggering and just can’t with good conscious justify it when there are so many other pressing needs for money.

“it’s only £20 quid more” incoming. Just like last year. You have to draw the line somewhere, or they will put them up whatever they feel like any time.

You’d better never by any consumer goods again then, as that’s how it works.

Obviously. I’m talking about this consumer good being charged out at more than it’s economic value. I’m aware you defend literally everything the club do, so if you are happy with your decision, as I said I applaud you.

But they haven’t reopened at random.

As a pedantic old fool yes it irks me about people talking up every summer (those who haven’t bothered to actually sign up to the ‘early bird’ about reopening the early bird. The reason it’s an early bird offer is it’s offering a discount to supporters for buying well in advance of when they will actually be able to enjoy the use of their season ticket. Most club do this as it is a big benefit in cashflow at a time when cashflow will be an issue with little/no money coming in but wages and other costs needing to continue to be paid over late spring and summer.

I have no issue with the club doing offers to incentivise more supporters to purchase season tickets but not at the expense of the loyal supporter who has already shown their loyalty by buying well in advance before we know who will be bought or sold during the summer and our relative chances of success. If they offer tickets in the summer at the same price ads ‘early bird’ they are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot as fewer will renew the following Spring knowing there is no benefit of parting with their money then when they can just renew at the same price in the Summer depriving the club of much needed cash at that time of year.

The club might have sensed an opportunity with these three home games in a week for people to sign up.

At early bird prices with the deal already finished? Extremely generous (and optimistic) of them if that is the case.

Talking to fans of other clubs in our division the average seems to be around £350-£380 how does that compare to ours?
