I’m just assuming the club won’t do anything this season. I can’t see it.
When we finish around 20th place what option will they have? Just like Flynn you can’t keep going on bad runs and expect to keep ur job. I wouldn’t mind but he’s doing the same mistakes game after game. When the fans start turning on the players the end is near.
I personally don’t think he survives another bad run. We are 4 games without a win now if we were to go into early bird time still in a bad run I think he will be gone even though the relegation jeopardy isn’t there.
I also think if we bumble along with no momentum to the end of the season and finish 15th or so he may be gone before pre season.
If Trivela are true to their word we now have a defined philosophy not reliant on any particular manager. Sadler hasn’t delivered that so far and he won’t be able to point to injuries and time to get his points across the further we go into the season.
Any points earned this season won’t count towards Promotion next season though.
Indirectly they will. Don’t be short sighted. @Andy_Petterson
Shit football this season
Shit results this season
Another season of nowhere
Unhappy fans this season
Unhappy fans this season don’t buy STs.
Less money for the manager
Poorer quality signings (imagine)
It was only the signing of DJ that prompted the reopening of the early bird.
2022/2023
2023/2024 (so far)
Extremely small differences, and that’s including Flynn’s terrible end to 2023.
To me that looks like treading water.
Well we were sleepwalking to the national league last time you popped up then we won 6 out of 7 including a 6-1win, so excuse me if I think you haven’t the foggiest clue about Walsall fc.
Do you not think when trying to convince players to sign for us that what has gone before has no bearing. Money is the key thing and I wouldn’t try to deny that but what if there is a quality player out there who we are willing to match other clubs wages and it is a close choice for them. We have finished in 15th place and look stuck in the mud and the other club had a great finish to the season and look to be on the up. The player won’t care about any of the points you made,
Time to start acting like the club we want to be.
I would be amazed if any player signed for us in the summer on the basis of say getting 60 points instead of 50 points this season.
Obvs hope we get as many points as possible
Probably not if you put it like that, but… if we have a strong finish to the season there is then an argument to be made that we are on the up, have most of the parts to make a promotion push. Or we could finish like we did last season and look like a team that is stuck.
As I said money will always be the key factor and I’m not saying you don’t want us to win or anything like that. You are trying to make out that whether we win or not for the rest of the season isn’t important, I don’t believe that is true or even close to be being true. Let’s not forget that people spend a lot of money following Walsall and to games hoping we win. A bit disrespectful to the likes of the 190 that went to Gillingham last week to suggest it doesn’t matter.
Of course. I’ve done my fair share of Walsall away games, but didn’t go to Gillingham. I’ve Nothing but praise for the fans who went and Walsall would be nothing without them. Fans deserve a competitive game and those who went to Gillingham got that. NB I did go to Sutton and that was an unacceptable performance.
The reality is though that Sadler needs to balance winning games in the short term and building for the long term and I’d hope our fans are intelligent enough to realise that.
I’m definitely not questioning you as a supporter, don’t ever think that. I didn’t go to Gillingham either, not been to many away games at all this season for a number of reasons.
I may not be the most intelligent person to be fair, but I’d like to know what Sadler is doing to build for the future that is preventing us from winning games this season. Maybe informing L.Gordon to make half hearted attempts at closing down the wide men. It’s not like he is blooding any youngsters or anything like that.
Winning is a mentality, building a win at all costs mentality is worth a lot. I don’t see it at Walsall, quite the opposite actually, we are soft and a bit weak at times mentally.
A lot will come down to the recruitment in the summer, not sure how involved he is in that but if we don’t improve the squad quite a bit, not much will change.
I understand what you’re getting at, but fostering a winning mentality is surely the first step to building for the future.
Maybe even blooding our own youngsters would count as building.
We started the game yesterday with 3 loan players, brought another one on and lost 3-0. If it’s just about building then why bring Tierney on at 3-0 down? Why not bring DJT on? Why are we not giving minutes to Foulkes or Maher (obviously we could recall him and give him minutes).
You basically made my point while I was writing out a post saying the same thing!
Yes I agree. Would have been ideal to give DJT game time yesterday.
I can only guess that Sadler was protecting him from an (understandably) angry crowd.
Newport yesterday were everything we haven’t been for the majority of the season.
Your right there. Yesterday certainly wasnf the time to bring on one of the worst players weve ever had (djt)
But unfortunately probably our most inform “striker”
I think it’s an even split or close to for the play off spots / relegation spots
Classic response from you.
Foggiest clue about Walsall…, I don’t think you can’t grasp that dross on the pitch this year will reduce next seasons budget. Simple football economics. Sadler is stitching himself up
Omg where are we at when Djt can be our pride and joys most inform striker.
God help us
