Exeter City (H) - League Cup - Tue 13th August, 7:45pm

@Lukeyboy Ask your mate for the Euro Millions numbers for this Saturday and we might be able to afford a decent striker! :joy:

Seriously, 1 ball away from drawing the dingle dongles? Rigged draw

And buy him a pie, if he’s “Hank Marvin”

Not a bad draw especially with home advantage so close to getting the dingles though.

Hopefully keep prices at the same price as last night if they want a decent crowd in and a better chance of overcoming huddersfield and getting big money from a possible huge tie in round 3

You nearly got your dream draw @cookyskid :joy:

Thought for a minute we had got the Wolves, didn’t realise there were 4 balls left in the bag. Typical of our luck we get Huddersfield Town! Well at least it is a home tie. I know a few Walsall people/fans who have settled in Huddersfield so they might come down for this so it will be good to see them again. At least we avoided the Bolton/Blackburn away curse. You never know it could be one of those special bescot nights…and then we move on to the Wolves…

The last time we played at the Custard Bowl (god, it’s nearly 11 years ago!!!) - I arranged to meet a Dingle supporting mate in the Lych Gate for a pre-game drink. Mindful of it being a “home pub” I only wore a badged t-shirt rather than a replica top, but absolutely no problem whatsoever despite it being packed.

I’d gone on the train as I was having a drink and after the game (which we of course won - hurray!) I had a bit of time until my train home so went back in there.

Not so many in as before but still a few, and I took my coat off. The barmaid saw the club badge on my shirt so came over to ask me to cover it up. I said “OK, but it won’t make any difference - they will still know I’m a Walsall fan”. “How?” she asked. “Because I’m the only one in here with a smile on my face, everyone else is crying into their beer”.

Bloody typical! Hadn’t realised the date, but as it happens I will be out drinking with a couple of Town fans (plus one Leeds) that night, so hope I end up with boasting rights. Unless I can drag them down to the Bescot that is. At least the Leeds fan will be on our side! Hoping to find a pub in Holmfirth showing the match

25 goal attempts and 70% possession in beating Morecambe 3-0 they also won 2-0 away at Peterborough on Saturday this is a tough draw.

Tough one, but I’d say a one in four chance of progression which ay bad.

Also at home so no long coach trip midweek for players still getting up to speed.

I guess maybe they will do what Exeter did and rest some of their best players. It is tough, I’d agree, but you never know.

Not sure about that. It’s a weak pen at a good height. A keeper isn’t unlucky to save a pen, their already at a huge disadvantage. His Second was excellent though.

I can’t remember seeing too many penalties of that power go in a foot or two over the diving keeper. Someone even suggested his shoot out penalty was similar- it was, apart from the fact that it was hit much harder and higher.

I think that’s a decent draw. I certainly wouldn’t have wanted wolves and cant see why anyone would. They are so far out of our league now that there’s every chance they would put 5,6 or more past us.

Yeah because cup shocks don’t exist and atmospheres don’t matter.

Aren’t we all true fans? :man_shrugging:t2:

Stevenage knocked Villa out of the FA Cup at Villa Park only a couple of seasons ago.

Always a chance you can get battered but anything can happen. I wouldn’t have minded the Wolves at home. Would have been a good occasion and a decent money spinner for the Club. Always a chance you get battered but that’s football.

You could argue that they’re so far away from us, it wouldn’t matter so much if we did get battered. We’re too insignificant to them for too much gloating, but if we did beat them, we could have gloated for years. It wouldn’t be like when we were on the same level. Every cloud…
