Respect your opinion, but the bit in bold… really??
You “can’t see” why fans or people at the club would want to draw Wolves in the cup??
Money spinner…huge interest generated…potential TV exposure/money…great atmosphere…something to really look forward to this early in the season…great for our sponsors, great experience for the players …chance (however slim) of an upset or at least a gallant defeat, something which literally a generation of younger fans have scarcely experienced??

Have you really reached the stage where fear of a hammering outweighs the above??
To me that’s just counter intuitive and goes against history. If its confidence you’re worried about I don’t understand why, it would be a free hit, and remember the 83/84 cup run was instrumental in rebuilding confidence and emboldening a side shattered by a start to the season that had included an 8-1 defeat. Within months that side had become legendary, and the memories are literally the most talked about era on here even now 40 years later.

I’d say let’s play them later on after we’ve started a cup run and got some momentum going, fourth round possibly? That’d be a belter.

Huddersfield is going to be a tough game they were championship last season and retain a fair few of the players from that level
So far beat Peterborough 2-0 and Cheltenham 3-0 and have two winnable home games before us verses Stevenage and Shrewsbury so will be full of confidence.
However I think that our style of play will prove advantageous against how they seem to set up. Should be a close game
If they underestimate us and rest a few I think we can progress. Let’s hope the club can agree a decent ticket offer and get the place full and rocking (if we still can) :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

Bit late to the party but what a brilliant night Tuesday was! Football is back

Really enjoyable game of football and we deserved the win in the end.

Sometimes find it funny reading a thread back after the dust has settled. Some of the Josh Gordon comments are OTT and I’m made up for him he got the winning penalty. He was up there with MOM, hard work is a given with Josh but to say stuff like ‘put me in a Walsall shirt and I’ll run about a bit’ and ‘headless chicken’ are just lazy comments.

His running is usually pretty clever and with a quality finisher alongside him I can really see it working! Some of his link up play was also quite tidy.

Again a few comments regarding Harry Williams not being at it. I thought he was brilliant and offers us a lot more in the air when defending crosses, I’m interested to see how he progresses. Dave is similar but really needs to stop having these brain farts and giving the ball away cheaply, hopefully it’s just match sharpness he’s lacking.

Shame we couldn’t get the Dingles but Huddersfield won’t look forward to coming here and they’ll want to rest players so we have half s chance!

Sorry if it’s already been pointed out but on Saddlers + there’s a great video been added called ‘inside Exeter’ pitchside cameras giving some great views of the game etc. Interesting to see how close Stirks shot actually was from that footage and also how unlucky JG was when it hit the post as you can see Sweeney got a lucky flick onto the post just before him!

Roll on Swindon! Can’t wait let’s get it rocking!

I don’t think anyone has said he wasn’t “at it”. He was good in the air and he was also great in the tackle, but he also gave the ball away from their goal with an aimless clearance, committed to a duel with their striker but got nowhere near, found himself in no mans land, then was outpaced in recovery. He was also pretty slow in possession.

Some positives, some negatives.

Miles off the pace. Him and Weir not good enough. I was being polite by paraphrasing ‘not being at it’

He had a very good game. Yes showed some poor touches but so did every player. Like I said, I’ve been impressed with him on the whole especially considering his lack of game time.

Let’s not write off our players. It’s one thing saying a player hasn’t impressed you but it’s damaging to write players off quickly. We need to be patient and wait until a fair amount of games under the belt to write players off.

I hadn’t seen that, but it’s clearly over the top to be fair to you.

Hmm, like I said, ups and downs for me and played a big part in the goal. I can’t see him breaking into our back three any time soon, and even less so when Daniels is back. Solid back up though.

Over 400 sold already, brilliant support as always, that away end will be absolutely bouncing that’s for sure.

We can look back at Simkins initial poor kick as well. Could’ve took a touch but rushed it and it went straight to them! Also Dave not being aggressive enough to get in front of his man.

As you say Daniels to come back and also Comley to help sure things up. We aren’t a million miles off

Yep, he wasn’t solely responsible (and I actually think Okagbue was poor rather than up and down to be honest).

I just hope we can defend crosses better in the league this season. I guess that’s why I’m more encouraged to have Dave and Williams knocking around as I think their strengths are defending high balls. Williams did excellent with the one on the deck and somehow managed to divert it over our bar however.

Mcentee also in the back 3 could help that problem. I’m not saying start Dave and HW btw. Just certain games may suit them tactically!

Possibly, although as you say I think McEntee playing in his actual position is as good at that and I think Priestly, given time to get up to full fitness and hopefully stay that way, can do that job as well as be a little bit better on the ball (and Taylor Allen is obviously undroppable at the minute).
